I went for a ride this weekend with and and at one point we pulled over on the coast for a photo. A stranger came up to me asking if I spoke Spanish.
“Un poco.”
He asked a few questions about displacement and top speed which I answered (poorly), and then he said, “those two bikes are pretty.” Seeing as there were three bikes, I asked him to confirm if he said “two” bikes. He did, and when I asked him to specify which two between my BMW R1100S, Matt’s Kawasaki ZX-4RR, and Mike’s Ducati Streetfighter V4S he specifically called out the Ducati and the Kawasaki.
..ouch.
At least it made for a good 2-up mount when I took out to dinner later that day!

There were generations of BMW boxers at the today, which was cool to see! I brought my R1100S out for the first time in a while and it was steady as always, but my personal highlight was a 1953 R67/2 in fantastic shape and a YOM (year of manufacture) plate. The odometer showed 15,300 kilometers but I wasn’t able to find the owner to see if they were original or after a restoration.
Other highlights were a R1100RS, a R50/2, another R11S (but the cooler Boxer Cup Replika version), and a R1200GS.
Always cool stuff at the Rock Store!

The new continues to impress and I look forward to sharing a review on it soon but if you have questions don’t hesitate to ask!
figured we should take it for an impromptu holiday trip to Santa Barbara, which was an excellent idea.
On the way we saw a lovely International Scout, did a little hiking and saw some elephant seals, did some aerodynamic testing, had delicious bone marrow and some of the best risotto of my life at , and of course, caught the fireworks!
I also have to specifically mention meeting because he’s on a trip from Sao Paolo, Brazil on a 155cc Yamaha (!) up to New York for the World Cup final. Oh, and he’ll hit up Alaska as well because why wouldn’t you? So cool.
Time for another day of exploring Santa Barbara - recommendations are welcome!

Met up with at the Old Place this morning to stage before a ride and there were plenty of cool cars and bikes about.
Special mention goes to the Pontiac Trans Am built by our neighbors - what a beautiful machine!
Also check out the Cisitalia, I’ve never seen one of these before.
Time to go for a ride!

Been a bit hectic the last few weeks (I’ve been out of town 5 out of the last 6 weekends) but I had some success racing at Willow Springs last weekend and now I’m in Arizona for the round at Inde Motorsports Ranch…hope to see you if you’re nearby!
Im@racing the Kramer 690 on Sound of Singles 1 and the 700 Challenge plus the KTM RC 8C in Sound of Thunder 2. Going to be a crazy few days but I’ll be sharing plenty of the festivities and my favorite bikes over on !
Thanks to and for keeping me safe!
