This was a video I had to watch in my Integrative Medicine class. A lot of you who have known me for a while may know that I support lifestyle modification and other types of healthier changes as better approaches to healthcare. This was extremely important to me in picking a PA program. The first time I applied, I realized a lot of the programs weren’t exactly about the type of integrative medicine I personally wanted to learn more about. Keep in mind- all of Medicine is integrative to some approach anyways. For example; providers of care will always refer out if you have an illness or problem that is out of their scope of care.
However, I personally cared a lot about learning about other modalities of care that may not even be found in a normal hospital setting. A lot of times this can include eastern medicine approaches too, such as acupuncture or dietary therapy. In my program the vast majority of my education is surrounded by western medicine (which I also really wanted to learn about but NEED to know about for most patients and most jobs), however my programs allows us to really explore other types of non-traditional approaches too and teaches us WHO to refer our patients to for that. As a PA, I most likely won’t be treating you with eastern medicine myself, but because I learned enough about it, I can refer you properly if you would like to try other things.
In my program I have access to acupuncture, chiropractor& eastern medicine dietary therapies for free! This allows me to try these modalities out after learning about them and actually share the benefits of it with my one day patients!
If you are going into medicine and want to learn about other approaches I would urge you to research schools properly that also care about that! If you are a patient looking for other options, find a integrative medicine provider of care who can refer you to the right person.

A new chapter of my life starts now & I am so excited and filled with gratitude as I enter it. PA school starts in less than two weeks and my new place is starting to feel more like home everyday.
Sometimes we look at the fruition of someones hard work and all we can see is their success. I’m here to tell you this road was full of failures but nothing that didn’t ultimately elevate me. The whole reason for becoming a personal trainer was really to start influencing others to eat healthier, be more active, and start with what I had at the moment. Before, I wanted to influence people to care more about their health as their Physician Assistant. God had other plans though and he wanted me to do it as their personal trainer. Now, I get to do both. I’m so thankful that “No” never really means No to me, it just means not right now, not like this, or maybe not here.
I’m so blessed to be able to move cross country and feel so supported and guided in my transition. I’m so blessed to be starting my Masters program at the age of 24. I am so blessed to be surrounded by such beautiful nature and weather to explore these next two years. I’m so blessed to find a program that cares about the holistic side of healthcare and supports me as a future provider of care in that journey. @ Los Angeles, California

How becoming a personal trainer allowed me to save 12K❤️🤭👇🏽 You’re going to want to read this, save it,& take note.
In short, I created a lane for myself with the help of God. I know he created this position for me! It’s crazy because at the time, I was manifesting getting into the school of my dreams- I also needed to move out of my parents house. The school of my dreams was in California so obviously a move a year earlier into my own place didn’t exactly equal stacking cash.
My friend gave me the idea of selling my training services to an apartment complex as their on-site personal trainer in exchange for a rent discount. I didn’t think such a thing really existed to be honest- but I emailed at least 40 different apartment complexes pitching myself and my services and eventually someone bit the bait. It was after like 40 rejections (literally) that I decided to send ONE more pitch- and that was the one that said “Yes! We have been looking for this for sometime now!”...I like couldn’t even believe it.
I will forever be grateful for my experience as an on site personal trainer. It gave me huge flexibility, I contracted MYSELF out (okay because I’m the plug😂), and it taught me that God doesn’t need a lane to already be created for you to walk in it! He just needs you to believe that you deserve to walk in that lane! You can’t be weak minded and fold after a few rejections. Persistence is everything for me.
By the way: this current position that I had has already been filled by an amazing personal trainer that I am sure will make me very proud. That isn’t to say that you can’t create this same thing for yourself though ✨😏 God will make the bridge for you; you just gotta believe.

So how did I become a personal trainer? Well to start, my undergrad degree is in Exercise Science- Kinesiology. I was always passionate about health and fitness but I didn’t know I would like training people-until I did it. This was also after I received a waitlist for my first round of applications into PA school (I applied directly after undergrad).
This was the first photoshoot I ever did and I wasn’t even certified. Right after I started training people virtually- I realized I needed to learn more. A degree in kinesiology does help you understand the body but it doesn’t necessarily teach you how to create workout programs for all groups of people.
I became NASM-Certified and I now am a Precision Nutrition certified coach as well. I decided to fall in love with where my life was at in the present moment. In the past I was wanting to get into school so bad that I wasn’t even making use of what I had now and what I was most passionate about (health and wellness).
Becoming a personal trainer has been a life changing experience for me. I learned that you don’t have to be people’s providers of care for them to open up to you about very hard things in their life. I learned how to push people past their own limits and mindsets (myself included). And lastly, I learned you never get where you want to go by focusing on what you don’t have. You get there by making it do what it do, with what you do! .
Stay tuned for my next post to see how becoming a personal trainer saved me over 12K 🤑🤑🤑..

wow🥴...I decided that I should introduce myself to some of my newer followers and also share my story of getting into PA school (I start in one month!). I have realized a lot of people aren’t even aware of what a Physician Assistant (PA) is, as well.
In short: My name is Bri 👋🏽 I am a personal trainer turned entrepreneur, soon to be full-time PA Student. I love health and wellness and I am passionate about helping others learn sustainable lifestyle practices.
For starters, PAs are medical professionals who diagnose illness, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, and often serve as a patient’s primary health care provider. A lot of people assume that because I am a personal trainer, I am getting my masters in something fitness related. While fitness and health is a passion of mines, merging medicine and healthy lifestyles has always been my ultimate goal. We all know someone that is on a lot of medication, that can possibly be taken off of some if they cared for their body more.
This picture is from like 2017, when I was working as a Certified Nurse Assistant in undergrad. To even apply for you need so many direct patient care hours. I even did this after I graduated from undergrad too but that will call for another post to show how I became a personal trainer.
What worked for me in getting into school was actually applying to schools that I felt like needed my presence. What didn’t work for me in getting into school was applying to schools that easily could’ve passed up on having me. I used my background of health and integrative medicine to my benefit in my application. It is what makes me stand out not only as an applicant but one day, as a future health care provider!

I am embarking on my last full month of my zoom virtual workouts. If you would’ve have told me in April I would have been doing this to August, I wouldn’t have believed you! However, it has truly helped me in SO many ways.
1️⃣. It allows me to serve others on a weekly basis. This is a free donation-based service I offer and multiple people have told me my zoom workouts give them a space to be accountable for their fitness and people are seeing amazing results.
2️⃣. I always feel much gratitude to the amount of support I receive on the zoom workouts. Connecting with others is so important for my own mental sake.
3️⃣.It holds ME accountable. Sometimes doing two workouts a day can be like 😩🥴 But i have people depending on me for BOTH classes. So I’m there!
4️⃣. It builds community- even though all participants can’t see each other- they can uplift each other through the comments and they always do!
5️⃣. My core is the strongest it’s EVER been.
If you haven’t joined on my workouts yet, I invite you too! I am doing this literally until I leave for Cali. This is also my last month in Michigan, until I move for grad school! So connect with me in person or via zoom so we can share some good sweat and energy together ❤️.

Happy birthday to me! ❤️I feel so blessed for 24 years of life today 🥰 I could feel the outpouring of love from those closest to me and from all of friends and clients from social media. I feel so grateful for so many things! This year feels exactly like where I wanted to be at 24. I have a business that is constantly supported. In less than 5 weeks I move across the country for the school of my dreams in a state that doesn’t even feel real. I have a great relationship and people that surround me. This joy can’t be faked or forged. I am truly aligned with what and where God has called me to be. I am so grateful for every one of y’all! Thank you for believing in me 🥰Thank you God for granting me another Sun circle. 🎉
