Plot twist: your muscles might not be the only thing holding you back. 🧠 Flexibility is more than just how far a muscle can stretch. Your nervous system plays a role in how much range of motion your body is willing to access. When you push into a stretch, brace against the discomfort, or hold your breath, your body may respond with more tension rather than less. But when you slow down, breathe intentionally, and approach movement with curiosity instead of force, you create an opportunity for your nervous system to dial down that protective response. And no, this doesn’t mean everyone is secretly flexible. Anatomy, genetics, muscle and connective tissue properties, and movement history all influence your mobility. But sometimes the answer isn’t to stretch harder. It’s to build tolerance, trust, and control within the range you already have. Less forcing. More exploring. Your body isn’t something you need to fight to get results. 🤎 And having a cat around will definitely calm you down, so 10/10 recommend that as well 🤗
