Two of the NBA’s most unique 7-footers — but who would you rather build around?

At 7'4", Victor Wembanyama has the obvious physical advantage over 7'2" Kristaps Porziņģis, but their games represent two very different versions of the modern “unicorn.” Wemby combines elite rim protection, perimeter mobility and playmaking with his size, while Porziņģis built his game around shooting, spacing and shot-blocking from the center position.

Stephen A. Smith was asked who he believes is the face of the NBA right now — and his answer was Victor Wembanyama.

“Believe it or not, I think at this particular moment in time it’s Victor Wembanyama.” Smith still gave LeBron James his respect, pointing to LeBron’s credentials, résumé and unmatched longevity, but believes Wembanyama has officially arrived. After reaching the NBA Finals in his third season and winning his first Defensive Player of the Year award, Wemby has clearly moved beyond the “next face” conversation.

One hypothetical proposal would send Kyrie Irving, P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford to San Antonio in exchange for De’Aaron Fox, Keldon Johnson, Luke Kornet and multiple future draft picks. What if Kyrie Irving and De’Aaron Fox swapped teams? 👀

Imagine Kyrie Irving in a Spurs jersey alongside Victor Wembanyama, while De’Aaron Fox takes over the backcourt in Dallas next to Cooper Flagg. It would be a massive shake-up for both franchises.

For San Antonio, Kyrie would bring elite shot-making, playoff experience and another proven creator next to Wemby and the Spurs’ young core. Dallas, meanwhile, would get an explosive downhill guard in Fox who can push the pace and create his own offense.

🚨 The San Antonio Spurs are heading into 2026–27 with one of the league’s most intriguing young cores, surrounded by proven veteran experience.

Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell and Tobias Harris headline a projected starting five, while Dylan Harper, Keldon Johnson, Julian Champagnie, Harrison Barnes, Luke Kornet, Carter Bryant and Jordan McLaughlin give San Antonio plenty of depth and versatility. The Spurs also added rookies such as Tarris Reed Jr. and Jayden Quaintance to an already talented group. 👀⚫️⚪️

One important injury note: Quaintance underwent right knee surgery and is currently without a firm return timetable, with reports indicating he is expected to be out at least until December 1. If this group stays healthy, the Spurs have a fascinating mix of youth, size, experience and two-way talent heading into the new season.

Bleacher Report is projecting Victor Wembanyama to finish as the 4th-highest scorer in the NBA in 2026-27. 👀

The biggest reason? More minutes. Wemby averaged 25.0 PPG in just 29.2 minutes last season, already producing historically rare scoring numbers despite playing fewer than 30 minutes per game.

If San Antonio gives him a bigger workload while keeping his efficiency intact, 30 PPG Wemby suddenly doesn’t sound that crazy.
