Want to finally break 90 this season? Shift your focus from your swing mechanics to your course strategy.

Try implementing these 5 game-changing habits:

➡️ Target the Center of the Green: Stop chasing difficult pin placements. Aiming safely for the middle of the green will easily shave 3 to 4 strokes off your game.

➡️ Club Up: Since amateur golfers hit it short roughly 70% of the time, choosing one extra club will help you land more greens and avoid tough scrambles.

➡️ Avoid Penalties: Keeping your ball on the fairway is always better than landing in the rough. Remember, a single out-of-bounds shot or water hazard automatically costs you at least 2 strokes.

➡️ Focus on Lag Putting: Work on leaving your long putts within a 3-foot radius of the hole. Minimizing your 3-putts down to just one per round saves an easy 3 strokes.

➡️ Play to Your Tendencies: Every golfer has a natural mistake pattern. If your bad shots are predictable, you can recover from them—it’s the completely random misses that ruin a scorecard.

Bookmark this post and focus on mastering just one of these strategies during your next round! ⛳️

"The face sends it, the path bends it."

This simple rule explains exactly how the positioning of your clubface and the direction of your swing path work together to dictate where your golf ball flies.

When you strike the ball, the angle of the clubface is what determines its starting line. The shape and curve of the shot, however, come down to the relationship between that face angle and your swing path.

The graphic above illustrates the classic recipe for a slice—a frustrating miss that haunts countless golfers.

Because so many players struggle with this, I'm rolling out a brand-new training program designed to help you eliminate your slice for good.

The 50-75 yard range is a notorious stroke-killer for amateur golfers. Here is how you fix it.

✅ Front Pin: Use a 56° Sand Wedge. Aim to land the ball short of the green and let it roll out toward the hole. Whatever you do, don't fly it directly to the flag.

✅ Middle Pin: Opt for a 50-52° Gap Wedge. Take a full, controlled swing to carry the ball all the way to the pin. Be aggressive and make sure you take enough club.

✅ Back Pin: Grab a Pitching Wedge or Gap Wedge. Target the middle of the green and let the ball roll to the back. Avoid the temptation to fly it all the way to the rear pin.

✅ The golden rule for every scenario: always select your exact landing target before you swing, and then fully commit to the shot.

Average players focus strictly on the flag, while great players focus on where they want the ball to land.

Quit chasing birdies and focus on eliminating double bogeys instead. That is the real secret to lowering your score 🎯

Analyzing 74 million tracked shots from 2025 reveals a clear truth: scratch players don't necessarily card more birdies than the average golfer—they are simply masters at avoiding disaster holes. A single double bogey completely undoes the progress of two birdies. Embrace a "boring" strategy on the course, and watch your scores drop.

📌 Bookmark this post as a quick reminder before your next tee time. Where do your blow-up holes usually start—with your driver, your approach shots, or around the green? 👇

05/29/2026

You don’t need a flawless swing to break 100—you just need to eliminate the blow-up holes.

This ultimate practice plan maps out exactly what to focus on from tee to green, ensuring every single minute you spend at the driving range actually improves your score.

Tee shots, approach shots, and the short game—we've got it all dialed into one straightforward routine.

3-putts are the ultimate scorecard killer. 😤

The solution isn't just mindless practice—it’s changing your mindset based on your distance from the cup.

🔵 3–6 Feet: It's all about dialed-in routine and pure confidence.

🔵 10–20 Feet: Forget the hole. Focus entirely on perfect speed control.

🔵 30+ Feet: Stop trying to force the make. Lag it close and secure the 2-putt.

Lock in these three distinct setups and watch your putts per round plummet. 📉

Bunker play shouldn’t be guesswork. It’s all about matching your technique to the lie. ⛳️👇

Too many amateurs use the exact same swing for every sand shot and wonder why they're leaving the ball in the hazard or skulling it over the green. To save more pars, you need to recognize the three most common sand lies and adjust your setup accordingly.

Save this checklist for your next practice session:

1️⃣ The Flat Lie (The Standard Splash)
When you get a clean, flat lie, you want to focus on a smooth, splashing motion.

💧Open the clubface slightly to expose the bounce of the wedge.

💧Dig your feet into the sand to build a stable base.

💧Aim 2 inches behind the ball—remember, the sand pushes the ball out, not the clubface!

💧Commit to a smooth, accelerating swing with a high follow-through.

2️⃣ The Buried Lie (The "Fried Egg")
When the ball is plugged, throw your standard bunker rules out the window. You need force, not finesse.

💧Close the clubface to let the leading edge dig into the sand.

💧Position the ball dead center in your stance.

💧Take a steep, aggressive downswing and drive the club hard into the sand right behind the ball.

💧Expect zero backspin. The ball will come out low and hot, so plan for extra roll and aim short of your target.

3️⃣ The Uphill Lie
The biggest mistake here is fighting the slope. You have to work with the terrain.

💧Setup with your shoulders parallel to the slope and the ball forward in your stance.

💧Shift your weight to your back foot.

💧Open the clubface for extra loft to clear the lip.

💧Swing up along the slope through impact.

💡 PRO TIP: Because the slope adds natural loft, the ball is going to fly much higher and come yards short if you aren't careful. Take less club (like a gap wedge instead of a lob wedge) to account for the distance loss!

Master these three setups, commit to your swings, and start turning those tricky greenside sand traps into easy up-and-downs.

05/29/2026

Stop guessing your yardages and start playing smarter golf. 🏌️‍♂️⛳

At the end of the day, your swing speed determines your carry distance—it's that simple. If your numbers aren't matching up with the chart below, forcing a harder swing won't fix it. The real solution is likely adding more loft!

Here is a realistic look at what your carry distances should be based on your speed:

🔯 70 mph Swing Speed: Driver: 160–180 yds | 7-Iron: 95–110 yds | PW: 65–80 yds

🔯 85 mph Swing Speed (Avg. Amateur): Driver: 210–230 yds | 7-Iron: 130–145 yds | PW: 95–110 yds

🔯 100 mph Swing Speed: Driver: 250–270 yds | 7-Iron: 165–180 yds | PW: 120–135 yds

💡 Key Takeaway: Prioritize loft over brute force. While a 10 mph boost in swing speed can unlock an extra 20 yards of carry off the tee, a professional club fitting is where the real magic happens. Always play your numbers based on carry distance, not where the ball rolls out!
