Fans are hoping Hawn's versions of songs by Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and more foreshadow a late-career rock album. Others panned the performance however, and many weren't nice about it.
“Someone get their drunk mom off the stage,” said one person on social media.
Here's what you need to know about the performance. She joined rock bands Shinedown and Creed as headliners at Velocity Festival in Iowa. Supporting acts included Lynyrd Skynyrd, Collective Soul and Skillet.
This wasn't a nostalgia comedy bill or a Hollywood tribute night. It was a rock fest with a major screen legend as headliner. Hawn isn't necessarily teasing some major stylistic change. She was trying to please a specific crowd.
Video finds her way out of her comfort zone — far from Laugh-In, Private Benjamin, Overboard and The First Wives Club — but no less committed than she is every time she takes the stage. Her cover of "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses helped end her set, making five total covers out of 23 songs played.
