We were honored to host the Los Fresnos High School Falcon Football team last night for their Pasta Night! 🍝🤠

The players enjoyed plenty of pasta, pizza, and, of course, cake! They also got to tour the rodeo grounds.

The Los Fresnos Rodeo family is deeply saddened by the passing of Mercedes Vicinaiz Cantu, a true pioneer of our community and one of the original Charter Members of the Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee.

Without Mercedes and her fellow charter members, the rodeo as we know it today would not exist. Serving as our early committee secretary, she helped lay the groundwork for a tradition that has brought our community together for decades.

Beyond her foundational role with the rodeo, Mercedes was a trailblazer for Los Fresnos - making history as our town’s first female mayor, serving as city commissioner, and dedicating countless hours to our schools, community programs, and local youth. Her servant heart and steadfast devotion to Los Fresnos will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the family during this time. Thank you, Mercedes, for your vision, leadership, and decades of service.
