Men’s 3/4 Omnium at the Derby City Omnium was an affair of instigators, with 2nd and 3rd place finishers Wes Gregory () and Tim Zange () being the key players in breakaways, bridge attempts, and chases through both days of racing. Ultimately it was Jed Fritzinger’s () sprinting brilliance that earned him top marks regardless of his challengers tireless efforts.

On day 2 of the Derby City Omnium at Long Run Park gave us a firecracker of a Cat 3/4 race!
1st - Jed Fritzinger,
2nd - Matthew Barnett,
3rd - Colin Olver,
Animating the race early on, TJ Blake (Catalyst), Chad Hayden (), and Colin Olver (N+1 Bikes), split from the field until slowly solo riders bridged across and fractured the field into two main groups. The lull following a series of prime laps won by Fritzinger and John Emery () welded the groups together, and the stage was set for a final group sprint. Fritzinger repeated his sprint form from yesterday winning outright, while Matt Barnett and Colin Olver fought for the podium.

Our Cat 4/5 podium for both Long Run Park and the overall Omnium results at the Derby City Omnium!
1st- Leo Nelson,
2nd- AJ Earlywine,
3rd- Chad Hayden,
Leading all the way from the gun left Nelson short on speed a day earlier at Shawnee Park, so in today’s circuit at Long Run, he sat in and conserved energy until the last two laps. Saving his gunpowder let him power across the uphill finish line from beginning to end, putting forth a dominant sprint which left no question of the strongest rider of the day. Earlywine and Hayden followed behind and took the remaining places on the podium.

Elite Men Podium at the Derby City Omnium at Shawnee Park in Louisville, Kentucky!
1st - Edward Fritzinger,
2nd - Brandon Feehery,
3rd - Ryan Jenkins,
In a tense race where wind was not a factor, several riders attempted breakaways with Nick Reader (Catalyst), Will Shaw (11eleven), Craig Kielbasa (South Chicago Wheelmen), and Ben Coltharp (Catalyst) all looking threatening to go the distance at various points in the race.
When the field came together with one lap to go, it was Catalyst and South Chicago Wheelmen who took charge and delivered their sprinters to the knoll 300m from the line.
Feehery looked poised to win from the right side of the road, but wheel-surfing Fritzinger found an extra gear in the final 25m to overhaul the charging vanguard. In the wheels behind the two leaders, a crash unfolded scuttling the rest of the field sprint and giving third-place Jennings a handling test just before the finish line.

Why is Cycling Holdings green?
Because green is the color of springtime. It signifies new growth, adventures, opportunities.
Even shrouded by shadows, green shows there is life within.
It’s an irrevocably optimistic identity that reminds us every day that there is always something worth fighting for.
