Congratulations to Andy Vertrees for being a Class of 2026 Kentuckiana Auto Racing Hall of Fame inductee! Andy has done it all and definitely deserves a place in the HOF.
Louisville Motor Speedway operated from Friday, April 22, 1988 until Saturday, September 15, 2001. NASCAR sanctioned.
The original track was 1/3 mile semi-banked asphalt with Figure Eight course and circumferenced with a 7/16 mile Long Track in 1994.

VERTREES, Sandra K. (Hicks), 74, was called to her HEAVENLY HOME on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at her home in LaGrange, Kentucky.
Born in Jefferson County,Ky on December 25, 1948 to Myrtle(VanderEspt) and Elvin Hicks.
Sandra was the Matriarch of the Vertrees Family which operated Kentucky Motor Speedway in Whitesville, Ky., Charlestown Speedway in Charlestown, In., Louisville Motor Speedway in Louisville,Ky., Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky., Lake Erie Speedway in Lake Erie Pa., & Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. She also served the community of Jefferson County as part of the civilian staff at The Jefferson County(KY) Sheriffs Office.
Sandra was a hairdresser and owned & operated a successful Real Estate Company developing subdivisions throughout the Louisville Metro Area.
She was preceded in death by her parents Myrtle and Elvin, sister-Arlene Barker, brother-Donnie Hicks, and brother-Roger Hicks.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Charles Andrew “Andy” Vertrees; children, Charles “Buddy” Vertrees, Jr. (Dana Eads) and Lisa Heidenreich (Greg Wesley); grandchildren, David Heaton, Jr. (Julia Nitishin) , Halie Vertrees, Christopher and Nate Heidenreich, & Conner Wesley; great granddaughter, Vittoria (Tori) Aubrey Brielle Heaton; and sisters, Bobbie Aubrey (John), Judy Eaton, Sherry Williams, Peggy Beard (David).
Visitation will be 11am-7pm Monday and 10am-1pm Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road. Funeral service 1pm Tuesday at the funeral home followed by burial at Duncan Memorial Cemetery in Crestwood, Kentucky.
