The landscape of college basketball has shifted dramatically over the last few months, but if Sunday’s NBA announcement proved anything, it’s that the Kentucky basketball brand still carries immense weight at the absolute highest level of the sport.
Three former Wildcats, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyrese Maxey, and Jamal Murray, were named to the 2025-26 All-NBA teams on Sunday.
The honors mark the fifth consecutive season in which Kentucky has boasted multiple All-NBA selections, and the third time in the last four years that at least three former Wildcats have made the cut.
SGA’s Historic Dominance
Leading the way was Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who earned a unanimous selection to the All-NBA First Team. It is his fourth straight First Team honor, coming just a week after he secured his second consecutive NBA Most Valuable Player award.
Gilgeous-Alexander put together a regular season for the history books, finishing second in the league in scoring at 31.1 points per game while guiding the Thunder to a Western Conference-best 64-18 record. He also became the first guard in NBA history to average 30-plus points while shooting 55.0% or better from the field, finishing at a career-high 55.3% clip. Along the way, he broke Wilt Chamberlain’s 60-year-old record by scoring 20 or more points in 140 consecutive games.
Before his historic NBA ascent, Gilgeous-Alexander was a crucial piece for Kentucky during the 2017-18 season, where he averaged 14.4 points and 5.1 assists, ultimately taking home SEC Tournament MVP honors.
Maxey and Murray Earn First Career All-NBA Nods
Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey earned his first career All-NBA selection, landing on the Third Team. Maxey enjoyed a breakout campaign, posting career-highs across the board with 28.3 points, 6.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game, while also being named an NBA All-Star starter for the first time.
During his lone season in Lexington (2019-20), Maxey averaged 14.0 points per game and memorably hit the game-winning shot against No. 1 Michigan State in his collegiate debut.
Joining Maxey on the Third Team was Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, who also secured his first All-NBA nod. In his ninth professional season, Murray averaged career-highs in points (25.4) and assists (7.1) while shooting an incredibly efficient 43.5% from beyond the arc.
Murray’s elite perimeter shooting traces back to his spectacular 2015-16 freshman season at Kentucky, where he set the program record for freshman scoring (20.0 PPG) and hit 113 three-pointers, the second-most in a single season in UK history.
The Big Picture
As new head coach Mark Pope constructs a new era of Kentucky basketball through modern roster building, Sunday served as a stark reminder of the program's unrivaled historical standard for producing elite, tier-one professional talent.

Big Blue Defense: Adebayo and Wallace Nab NBA All-Defensive Honors
Kentucky's NBA pipeline had a massive Friday night, landing two former Wildcats on the 2025–26 NBA All-Defensive Second Team alongside a major off-court honor.
The Headliners:
Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat): Earned his sixth career All-Defensive nod, officially passing Anthony Davis for the most selections by a former Wildcat. He averaged 1.2 steals and 8.0 defensive boards.
Cason Wallace (Oklahoma City Thunder): Locked up his first career All-Defensive selection after leading the entire NBA in total steals (150) and anchoring the West’s top-seeded defense.
Off the Court:
Adebayo was also named the NBA Social Justice Champion (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Trophy), securing a $100,000 donation for his Bam, Books, and Brotherhood Foundation. He joins Karl-Anthony Towns (2024) as the only UK alumni to win the award.
The Streak Continues: Former Wildcats have now taken home at least one major NBA award every single year since 2021.

The Kentucky Wildcats made their first competitive appearance at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa North Course on Friday, posting a 10-over team total to sit in a tie for 25th place after the opening round of the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship. The tournament marks the program's first trip to the national finals since 2021, and its first since the event relocated to Carlsbad three years ago.
Junior Cathryn Brown anchored the young Wildcat lineup. The Eddyville, Kentucky, native and team stroke-average leader carded a 1-under-par 71 to finish the day inside the top 25. Brown played even-par golf for most of the morning before capping her round with a birdie on the par-4 18th hole in front of a strong contingent of Kentucky fans.
Sophomores Raleygh Simpson and Karlie Campbell both turned in 3-over-par 75s to sit in a tie for 100th. Simpson surged early, sitting at 2-under through her first eight holes, but a double-bogey on the 9th and four back-nine bogeys slowed her momentum. Campbell endured an up-and-down day but matched Brown for the team lead with four birdies.
Rounding out the lineup, sophomore C.A. Carter shot a 5-over 77 (T122), while junior Samantha Paradise finished at 8-over (150th) after a difficult late-round stretch on holes 13 through 17.
The Wildcats return to the 10th tee for Saturday's second round starting at 4:07 p.m. ET, playing alongside LSU and Virginia.

Derby Champ Golden Tempo Back on Track for Belmont
Kentucky Derby hero Golden Tempo dialed in his penultimate workout for the June 6 Belmont Stakes on Saturday morning at Keeneland. After Friday's rain delayed the schedule, the Cherie DeVaux-trained c**t handled a good track beautifully, stopping the clock at 1:00.20 for five furlongs under jockey Jose Ortiz.
The Game Plan:
Next Breeze: A light maintenance work scheduled for Friday, May 29.
The Trip: Shipping to Saratoga Race Course on Saturday, May 30.
DeVaux noted that the son of Curlin looked primed to "take another step forward" following his spectacular last-to-first victory at Churchill Downs. The homebred superstar now boasts three wins from five starts and over $3.4 million in earnings heading into the final leg of the Triple Crown.

Following a weekend where Kentucky clinched a pivotal series win over a ranked Tennessee squad, one Wildcat has seen his trophy case get a little bit more crowded this week.
Shortstop Tyler Bell has been named to NCAA.com’s National Team of the Week, as announced Wednesday. The honor comes on the heels of Bell already being tapped as the SEC Co-Player of the Week.
For Nick Mingione’s club to navigate the gauntlet that is the SEC schedule, they need high-level production from the middle of the infield. This past weekend, the sophomore from the Chicago area gave them exactly that, and then some.
Bell was the engine behind a Kentucky offense that managed to keep the No. 24 Volunteers off-balance throughout the series. He posted a blistering .538 batting average over the week, but it was his ability to drive the ball that truly stood out. Bell notched a team-high 16 total bases, anchored by three doubles and two home runs.
Perhaps the most impressive facet of his performance was his versatility. Bell showcased his rare switch-hitting power by launching a home run from the right side of the plate on Saturday, only to follow it up by homering from the left side on Sunday.
His final stat line for the week was nothing short of elite:
538 AVG / 1.231 SLG / 1.831 OPS
7 Hits, 3 Doubles, 2 Home Runs
6 Runs Scored
1 SB, 1 BB, 1 HBP
Beyond just the power numbers, Bell’s ability to reach base and create havoc on the basepaths was a primary catalyst in the Wildcats’ ability to secure the series. Whether it was drawing a walk or swiping a bag, he found ways to put pressure on a Tennessee pitching staff that had been one of the better units in the conference entering the weekend.
As Kentucky prepares for the home stretch of the regular season, Bell’s emergence as a national-level threat at the plate provides a significant boost to a lineup looking to solidify its postseason resume.
If Bell continues to produce at this clip, the Wildcats won't just be a tough out in the SEC, they'll be a problem for anyone they meet in the NCAA Tournament.

In a season where the highlights have sometimes been hard to come by in Richmond, Jacob Price just provided a masterpiece that the folks down in Jacksonville couldn’t help but notice.
The Atlantic Sun Conference named the Eastern Kentucky redshirt junior its Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, and if you saw what he did to Lipscomb this past Saturday, you know the league office didn’t have much of a choice.
Price, a Louisville native, took the mound against a Bisons lineup that carries a collective .293 average, good for second in the ASUN, and essentially told them to take a seat. Over seven shutout innings, he surrendered just four hits. He walked one. He punched out a season-high eight.
It was, quite simply, the kind of "Friday night ace" performance delivered on a Saturday afternoon.
By the Numbers: Price’s Saturday Gem
Opponent Average: Price held a potent Lipscomb offense to a dismal .167 mark.
The Efficiency: He needed only seven innings to dismantle the heart of the Bisons' order in what finished as a 2-0 Colonels victory.
The Command: Eight strikeouts to just one walk. In the college game, that’s how you win, you force the opponent to earn every inch, and Price gave them nothing.
The Workhorse Mentality
There is something to be said for the guys who just take the ball and eat innings, and Price has been that guy for Chris Prothro all spring.
While his season ERA sits at 5.33, that number doesn’t quite tell the whole story of his value. Price is currently second in the ASUN in innings pitched at 72.2. In a year where pitching depth can be the Achilles' heel of any mid-major program, having a guy who can go deep into the game, and do so effectively, is a luxury.
He’s now 4-3 on the year and has cracked the conference top ten in strikeouts with 57.
For the Colonels, it’s a bright spot as the calendar turns toward the final stretch. For Price, it’s a homecoming of sorts in the stat sheet, a Louisville kid showing the rest of the conference exactly what he’s capable of when he’s locked in.
