Celebrating the coaches who inspire, encourage, and grow the game across the state.

This week, we’re highlighting Debra Laird! For more than four years, Debra has helped youth and adults build their tennis skills, from teaching red ball fundamentals to working with beginner and intermediate players. She always meets students where they are.

We’re excited to highlight the University of Kentucky Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center in Lexington as a recipient of the USTA Tennis Venue Services Facility Grant. The facility received a combined $11,765 from National, Southern, and Kentucky towards the resurfacing of four indoor courts, helping improve the playing experience for the tennis community.

We’re proud to see continued investment in tennis facilities throughout Kentucky and the lasting impact these projects can have.

Congratulations to John Herring and RC Scheinler on their nominations to the 2027–2028 USTA Southern Board of Directors, and to Rainey Johns on her nomination to the Nominating Committee!

John has been nominated for Executive Vice President and RC for Director at Large.
