Louisville's second tweed bike ride will roll October 15, 10 am from Vic's Classic Bikes, 921 Baxter, in the Highlands. Style over speed. Elegance over exertion.
A Tweed Ride is a group bicycle ride through a defined route, in which cyclists are expected to dress in traditional British cycling or vintage attire. Any bicycle is acceptable on the Tweed Ride, but classic vintage bicycles are encouraged. Some effort to recreate the spirit of a bygone era is always appreciated. Although previous cycling clubs have hosted vintage-themed rides before, the first w
ell documented tweed ride was held on the 24th of January 2009, and organized via London Fixed Gear and Single Speed, an online cycling forum. The name Tweed Run is a registered trademark. Since the first Tweed Run, various cities have copied the format, including Birmingham, Glasgow, United Kingdom; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Alpena, Michigan; Athens, Georgia; Bloomington, Indiana; Boston; Chicago; Chico, California; Curitiba; Dallas, Texas; Des Moines, Iowa; Durango, Colorado; Flagstaff, Arizona; St Petersburg, Florida, Helsinki; Minneapolis; Kansas City, Missouri; Moscow; Paris; Philadelphia; Rochester, New York; Sacramento, California; San Francisco; São Paulo; St. Petersburg, Russia; Sydney; Tokyo; Toronto; Traverse City, Michigan; Washington, D.C.; Oakland, CA; Berlin and Stuttgart, Germany; Chihuahua, Mexico; Calgary, Alberta; Victoria, British Columbia; Windsor, Ontario; Vienna, Austria; Budapest, Hungary; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Stockholm and Malmö, Sweden. That is why our ride is call a Tweed Ride. Lexington Kentucky has had tweed rides going back to 2010, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, and Kansas City all have very successful tweed rides. Plan to be a part of Louisville cycling history and join us in 2016. Get inspired, put together your most dapper attire. Prizes for most dapper gent, sassy lass, and genteel bike. Proceeds will benefit Falls City Community BikeWorks. Louisville Cycle Chic's John Paul is the event organizer, coordinator & producer. The ride is presented by Vic's Classic Bikes.
