Louisville Krav Maga

We are part of Darren Levine's lineage, as our first head instructor Greg Burnette, earned his Krav Maga blackbelt from Krav Maga Worldwide.

Darren Levine is the founder of the Krav Maga Association of America and Krav Maga Worldwide.

In 1981, Levine was selected as part of the first group outside of Israel to train in Krav Maga. While training in Israel, Levine was befriended by Krav Maga founder Imi Lichtenfeld. In 1982, Lichtenfeld traveled to Los Angeles to stay with Levine and continue his training. Levine is one of only two recipients of a Krav Maga Founder's Diploma awarded by Lichtenfeld before his death in 1998 (the other recipient was Eyal Yanilov, who founded Krav Maga Global). At the time, Levine was the highest ranking instructor in the United States, and had training centers in West Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, and Philadelphia. Levine held a 8th degree black belt in the Krav Maga.

Krav Maga & Women’s Self Defense Krav Maga (pronounced “krahv mahGAH”) is an effective, modern, and dynamic self-defense and fighting system.

Wow 2017! That was the start of Louisville Krav Maga. I have been teaching 8 years. The early days at CORE were awesome and I was taking Krav at Edge Martial Arts too. I have promoted around 30 yellow belts (Level 1) and around 8 Orange belts (Level 2). (Covid really slowed things down for a year so we moved on from testing for the most part, it is hard to teach curriculum for testing. Now I know why Rolando at CORE quite doing it, it is time consuming) I have taught literally hundreds of men, women and children self defense. I have conducted seminars and demonstrations for Universities and Corporations, and even taught two Krav Maga summer camps at the Jewish Community Center grades 1-5! Greg and I started in the upstairs room in the The Factory Gym, then on to LAC in Jtown when the Factory Closed. We were at LAC over 4 years. We had some rocking classes! Back then I was teaching 5 classes a week and training and teaching about 3 hours a day. Then the Jewish Community Center picked us up in 2019 after a demonstration during their walk thru Israel Tour. I have had the honor to teach, and demonstrate in front of Law Enforcement and former IDF. In the early days the class was full of officers. I have been teaching class at JCC Going on 6 years. And I taught 7th and 8th graders at the Temple on Brownsboro road. I owe Greg Burnette at lot. I am from his linage, and World Wide Krav Maga. And I am blessed I met Will Schneider at Elite Martial Arts, he connected me to Mark Slane and the United States Krav Maga Association. I feel really blessed I get to still do something I love. The new session starts on October 14th at JCC! Also I wanted to add we did have a really good class at Fitness 19 in Middletown for a year or so and I had a boot camp last year at Club Fitness in Mt Washington. And during Covid I went to people's homes and we even met at the park during the shutdown. Also we made it on Great Day Live twice and had several news stations cover our seminars.
