We are proud to see Tennessee officials highlighting the critical role that VINE® plays in protecting survivors and keeping communities informed. In a recent push for increased awareness, state leaders emphasized how near real-time custody status updates save lives.
At VINE, our mission is simple: to provide survivors with the reliable information they need to create a safety plan and find peace of mind.

We are proud to support the Mary Byron Endowed Chair in Intimate Partner Violence at the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville.
Nearly 33 years ago, Mary Byron’s story sparked the creation of VINE®—the nation’s first automated victim notification system. This newly endowed position marks a significant milestone in the fight against intimate partner violence (IPV). By creating and integrating IPV-focused learning into the law school and university curriculum, the next generation of leaders and students will be better equipped to identify early warning signs and disrupt the cycle of violence.
“My daughter Mary’s name lives on,” Pat Byron said. “The important work begun by the Mary Byron Project will continue, helping train the next generation of advocates – lawyers and lay people, alike. With each of these important steps we get closer to making ‘no more’ a reality.”
Together with the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville and the Byron family, we are taking steps to turn that hope into lasting systemic change: https://news.louisville.edu/news/uofl-brandeis-school-law-establishes-new-mary-byron-center-and-endowed-chair-intimate-partner
