A line can tell a story.
๐๏ธ
A winding pathway through grass. A zig-zag crack in the sidewalk. The curved shape of a leaf. The straight trunk of a tree.
๐ฟ
This week we'll investigate how shapes and pathways appear throughout our environment and how we can recreate those discoveries through movement, mark-making, and creative play.
๐จ๐คธ๐ฝ
By moving their bodies, arranging materials, creating artwork, and sharing observations, children build meaningful connections between action, imagination, and learning. What begins as a simple curve or line can become a dance, a drawing, a story, or an entirely new discovery.
๐ซ
The hundred languages of children are everywhere. We can't wait to see what they notice next.
๐๐ฝ Tell us: What is your child's favorite way to create? Drawing, painting, building, dancing, arranging treasures from outdoors, or something uniquely their own? ๐๐ฝ

Children are born investigators.
This week in our Body Shapes & Pathways Atelier, we'll move our bodies, explore open-ended materials, and discover how straight, curved, and bent shapes show up all around us.
๐ Look closely...can you find straight lines, curved pathways, and bent angles hidden in this little artist's work?
Through movement, creation, and mark-making, children begin to connect what they feel in their bodies with what they express on paper.
๐ฑ Move It. Make It. Mark It.
We'll investigate shapes with our bodies, discover them in natural and loose-parts materials, and create our own pathways through drawing and mark-making.
๐๐ฝ Shape Detectives! What shapes has your little one noticed lately? A curly vine, a winding sidewalk, a straight stick, or something else? Share below! ๐๐ฝ

Movement is one of the very first ways your little one learns about themselves and the world around them.
๐ฃ
Long before little ones recognize letters, numbers, and symbols, they experience the building blocks of those abstract ideas with their bodies. Straight. Curved. Bent. These simple shapes become pathways for movement, pathways for learning, and eventually pathways for writing and creating.
๐ ๐ด โญ
This week we'll explore BODY SHAPES & PATHWAYS by moving high and low, near and far, straight and curvy. Every reach, twist, curl, and step strengthens the connection between body and brain while helping children understand how they move through space.
๐จ
Today's giant-body discoveries become tomorrow's drawings, stories, letters, and works of art. Amazing what can begin with a simple stretch and a wiggle!
๐๐ฝ Tell us: How does your child love to move through space right now? Running in straight lines, spinning in circles, crawling under furniture, or something else? We'd love to hear! ๐๐ฝ

Have you ever noticed how your little one stretches up high to reach a favorite toy, curls into your lap with a book, or bends down to inspect something fascinating on the ground?
โจ
Children are natural movers, and every day they create BODY SHAPES with their wonderful growing bodies.
๐ straight, tall, long, and wide
๐ด curved, curled, and swirled
โญ bent and flexed
As infants, toddlers, and preschoolers explore these shapes through movement, they're building strength, coordination, body awareness, and the foundation for future drawing and writing.
๐ง ๐ช๐ผ
This week we'll stretch, curl, bend, crawl, balance, and travel through space as we discover the many ways our bodies can move and grow. After all, before children can draw a shape on paper, they first learn to feel that shape within themselves!
๐
๐๐ฝ Tell us: Which body shape does your little one make most often these days? A tall stretch ๐, a cozy curl ๐ด, or a deep bend โญ ? Share below! ๐๐ฝ

The brain is built on demand during the early yearsโฆ and that demand comes in the form of โdoing!โ ๐ง โก
The more you and your little ones do, the more confident, self-aware, and grounded in mind and body they become!
Whatโs more fun than wiggling, bouncing, balancing, and experimenting with all the incredible things we can DO with our BRILLIANT BODY PARTS? ๐คธโโ๏ธ๐ถ๐ฝโจ
Having opportunities to explore movement refines motor coordination and strengthens the vital link between the body and the brain. So, letโs get moving!
๐ Try this today: Pick a body part, wiggle it (or bounce it, tap it, or shake it!), and see how your little one responds! What move got the biggest reaction? Tell us in the comments! ๐

1, 2, 3... look at ME! ๐ถ๐ผโจ
Isnโt it delightful to watch your baby discover their delicate hands, scuff their adorable feet, and start exploring the world around them?
In no time, they go from pushing up on their elbows and army crawling to balancing on hands and knees! And just like that... the thrills keep coming! ๐โโ๏ธ๐จ
Next thing you know, your Waddler is pulling up on wobbly legs and cruising apart-together, and the adventure speeds up. And then, all of a sudden, youโve got a confident Toddler showing off their fancy moves, building speed, and learning to isolate movements in one body part while keeping the rest still!
Every wobble, step, and tumble is laying the foundation for strength, balance, and independence. Motor development builds from the inside out. What a joy to see them discovering their BRILLIANT BODIES and learning how to make them โgo!โ ๐ช๐โจ
๐๐ฝ Tell us: What new body part or move is your little one currently obsessed with exploring? Drop it in the comments below! ๐๐ฝ

Pop, fly, wiggle, and race as we discover all the ways our bodies move through SPACE! ๐คธ๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Did you know that the brain uses many of the same pathways for thinking and doing? As your little one learns to jump, balance, stop, go, and control their movements, they're also building important skills for self-regulation, focus, and impulse control.
๐ง โจ Through playful movement challenges, children practice coordinating their bodies, following directions, and managing big actions. These early experiences help lay the foundation for emotional regulation and school readiness while having tons of fun with you along the way!
