Happy New Year from the Lloyd Legacy Racing Team! We are gearing up for a great 2025!

It’s been a while since our last update! Life has kept the Lloyd family busy with racing, volleyball, and dance. 🚗🏐💃

Nora wrapped up her first season of go-kart racing, and it was a real learning experience! Midway through the year, she had a scary moment when her throttle got stuck while coming off the track. She kept her cool and managed to avoid a crash, but it was a big challenge for her. This slowed down our season more than we expected, but we couldn’t be prouder of her resilience and growth as a first-time racer. 💪

Now, as we look to 2025, Nora’s deciding between continuing with go-karts, trying out junior dragsters, or maybe even both! More updates on that as she makes her choice.

Derek was also able to a bit of racing this summer, working toward his competition license. He’s got just one qualifying pass left to officially earn it. For now, we’re excited to enjoy the off-season, make some upgrades, and come back stronger and faster next year.

After a scorching month, I finally made it to the track to get some laps in with the GTO! 🚗💨 I'm working towards my NHRA license, so I had to make a series of different passes. Luckily, I completed 5 out of the 6 before someone oiled down the track, and we had to call it a night. We're slowly getting the hang of the car. Now, if only the driver could improve and not suck as much! 😜

We are planning to head out tomorrow for some bracket racing and to complete my final licensing pass. Soon, I'll finally have my car number and license! 🏁🎉 Wish us luck!

Really cool interview with the owner of localish chassis shop in Kentucky and driver of Charlie Brown. Great to listen to how the started from the ground up, learning as you go, to a top tier chassis/parts shop today. They also happen to own one of my favorite drag cars of all time in Charlie Brown. A nitrous fed BBC 4 door Malibu!

It's been a whirlwind few weeks here at Lloyd Legacy Racing! Despite the scorching heat and a brief break, we've been hard at work behind the scenes. Nora's kart needed some maintenace and changes after her last race, and the break allowed us to get everything buttoned up and ready to go.

We're counting down the days until our next adventure on 7/12 at Sportsdrome Speedway for the Kentuckiana Kart Racing races– can't wait to hit the track again!

In other news, Nora's holding steady in 5th place according to the latest KKR points standings. Not too shabby for her rookie year, right? But hey, we're aiming higher! We've made some tweaks to the kart and Nora's set her sights on cracking the Top 3 by the end of the season. 🏆💨

Oh, and speaking of new adventures, Nora's still eyeing up Jr. Dragster racing – now we just need to convince Mom (Christy Lloyd) and maybe find a spare piggy bank! 🐷💸

Over the past week, Nora has been on a mission. She's been asking, no, lobbying for a junior dragster so she can hit the track and race with me.

Her negotiation skills have been nothing short of impressive.

"Dad, we can have matching racing suits!"
"It’s a great father-daughter bonding experience."
"Dad, I'll go fast like you!"

I have to admit, she’s making some pretty compelling points. So, if you happen to see me on the street corner, cardboard sign in hand, begging for spare change, just know that it's not because I’ve fallen on hard times. Nope, it’s because I’m funding Nora's newfound racing addiction. :)
