Katsujinken Dojo

We are training in Louisville, Kentucky, at 999 Brent Street on Wednesday nights from 8 until 10 pm. Drop ins are welcome, as are old friends -- anytime.

We are back in the Brent Street Dojo, beginning in August. Traditional jujutsu and weapons classes are always open, but please contact Brian Barnes Sensei for more information — 502-338-1338. Classes are on Wednesday night from 8 pm until 9:30.

Katsujinken Dojo will practice Japanese traditional weapons on Saturdays at 2 pm during June at this spot, adjacent to the tennis courts at Seneca Park in Louisville, Kentucky. All are welcome to observe, and all current and former students are welcome to join us. Please come masked and expect to maintain social distancing during practice. We will have weapons for you, if you’re a beginner. All are welcome.

Greetings! We are social distancing, but we hope you’ll think about these useful ways to train alone (and maybe even do them!)

1- Solo weapons — we train lots of these. Surely, everyone is doing it now. Don’t have your weapons with you? Practice in the air. Work on breath and timing.

2- Visualize in meditation.

3- Visualize while moving. You can do this without a partner.

4- Read and think about your Way.

5- Connect with your teachers and training partners over social media and other technology.

6- Take a much-deserved rest.

7- Cross-train however you can.
