The teams playing at a high level adjust pitch to pitch. (runner @ 1B with LHH). AB (at bat) begins with SS having bag (on stolen base attempt) and finish AB with 2B having bag. Based on pitch selection & hitter 2K approach. Good job by Ole Miss. relayed to D from dugout bc of pitch called by coach. Result was SS staying home and made the play for final out @ 1B.

Too many teams (even at college level) set their defense based on a Spray Chart (data) and do not make adjustments mid AB.

Impressive approach last night for Machado and the whole Padres Club.
Machado gets rewarded in his 5th AB.

Details of the game can be practiced anywhere. An INF’s first move/step is critical at higher levels. Notice the angle on the baseball he instantly creates by his first step with the Right foot. Left foot first causes him to lose rhythm and “over run” the ball.
B is flipping ball and causes him to lose his rhythm and handle.
