🌧️ RACES CANCELLED – AUGUST 15

Good evening, RMQMA racing families. Due to this afternoon’s consistent rain and additional rain expected overnight, the board has made the tough decision to cancel tomorrow’s races.

With muddy conditions expected in the morning, the time needed to dry the track, and more rain forecast to move in around 2:00 PM, we don’t feel confident we could get a full day of races in.

We’ll try again next weekend for Race #8 on August 22.

Thanks to Rocky Mountain Quarter Midget Association (RMQMA) for putting on the inaugural Mile High Shootout!
It’ll definitely be an event to look forward to each year! Both kids raced great- podium finishes in all classes. To top it off- Maddi Jay was honored to have a chance behind the wheel of a Tad Fiser Hotrod!

What a weekend!

Every single one of our kids came out and had their absolute best racing this weekend and we are so proud.

This was Liam's second race in his new heavy honda class and he brought home 3rd place on the weekend including 2nd place in timing on Saturday, just three tenths of a second from the track record! He put in a ton of work on Friday and it all started clicking on Saturday and he put together and excellent timing round, a fantastic main and came back to do it again on Sunday. It's crazy to think back to May when he was still a blue rookie and now we're here. And he got to bring home some pretty rad hardware.

Sam has put himself to the challenge to graduate out of rookie and get some time in Junior Honda during this season and he has been rising to the occasion. Last race, we came out a day early for practice and Sam put nearly 100 laps on his car. Then he drove his practice, main and heat during race day and begged us for some practice after trophies and drove an extra 150 laps of practice. His line has always been so consistent, and he has nailed lining up in the last couple weeks and his last big check mark was making a pass and boy did he. He passed 3 cars during his heat and during the main he showed us that he conquered and crushed the fear of passing as he and the other 2 lead cars lapped the remaining field several times. Sam is looking forward to his official graduation from rookie and transitioning to Junior Honda in August. He is so excited to be on the track with Hiram!

Last but not least... Charlie Duke rocked his first 2 day event as a racer! He ran his qualifying laps so well and really started to learn the feel for getting around the track during his main event. Sunday morning he slept in and apparently needed it because he was zooming & zipping around the track and took the checkered for his first heat race win. He was a bit teary at the end because he was so excited and told us he must be dreaming.
