Dear Students, Families, and the Wilkerson’s Martial Arts Academy Community,

After much deliberation and reflection, we are writing to announce that Wilkerson’s Martial Arts Academy will permanently close its commercial doors. Our final day of operation will be October 31, 2026.

Like many small businesses, recent economic challenges and ongoing coaching staff shortages have made maintaining a full-scale commercial academy unsustainable. As part of this transition, our commercial building is currently under contract to be sold.

To ensure a smooth transition for everyone, there will be no membership payments collected for the month of October. We invite all current students to continue training with us through our final weeks at no cost as a thank you for your loyalty.

While this marks the end of an era for the Academy, it is not the end of our Jiu Jitsu journey. We are shifting our focus away from a public commercial school to launch a private Jiu Jitsu club. This new chapter will allow us to focus deeply on high-quality training, personal development, and a dedicated, tight-knit training environment.

If you are interested in transitioning to the private club with us, a signup sheet has been posted at the gym. Please add your name to the list so we can keep you updated on the details of this next venture.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to every student, parent, and supporter who stepped onto our mats and contributed to our community. You are what made Wilkerson’s a truly special place, and we look forward to finishing this month strong together.

Sincerely,

Steven “Poncho” Wilkerson

Between kids getting their first stripes, teens and adults getting ready for submission grappling matches, MMA and Kickboxing bouts; we have A LOT going on at Wilkerson’s Martial Arts Academy! We even have a couple of our students getting ready to show some Jiu Jitsu techniques at their school talent show. Come try it out for a week for free and see what we’re all about! No matter your age or fitness level, we have a place for you.

Congratulations to our three youngest students on receiving their first stripes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! These kids are ages 3 and 4. While teaching kids this young can definitely be challenging, it’s still totally worth it! Seeing them having fun AND learning is awesome. Keep up the good work guys!
