Our 3rd trip to Shenandoah Speedway of the 2026 season saw 8 cars able to make the Labor Day Sunday, Sun Drop 40 lap show. Scheduled for Saturday, but with the weather outlook the track made the call early to reschedule. Great call by the promoter as it was a washout in the valley Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately that kept a couple teams from making the show, but when you pick a fight with mother nature......mother nature always wins. Sunday turned out to be a great day weather wise with sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70's, perfect for a track day. The 8 teams that made the call were

Josh Weston - Sportsman
Barry Dalton - Modified
Austin Weaver - Sportsman
Todd Meredith - Sportsman
Tanner Griffith - Sportsman
Preston Clark - Modified
Michael Goldsmith - Sportsman
Shawn Otey - Sportsman

All divisions would get 1 round of practice and Qualifying. Races would see the 1st green flag drop at 4:30pm

Qualifying would shake out as

1 - Josh Weston
2 - Barry Dalton
3 - Shawn Otey
4 - Tanner Griffith
5 - Todd Meredith
6 - Michael Goldsmith
7 - Austin Weaver
8 - Preston Clark

Josh Weston (win at Dominion) and Shawn Otey (win at Langley) would have to start at the rear for their previous wins with the series.

VVR was the 4th feature of the afternoon and would see the green flag drop about 5:30pm. When the green dropped Dalton would race out to an early lead. Griffith and Meredith battled for the Sportsman lead early as Weston and Otey were working through the field. Goldsmith and 1st time racer with the series Weaver had their own little battle early and were laying down some consistent and racey laps. Clark was battling power steering issues and elected to just keep pace with the field from the cat birds seat. Back out front Dalton had gotten himself a nice lead over now 2nd place Weston and 3rd place Otey. Dalton would see that nice cushion disappear as caution would waive for the #11 of Weaver would spin coming out of turn 2. That would bunch the field back up. Green would fly again. Dalton quick on the break with the #95 of Weston starting to size #05 up for an outside maneuver. After a lap Weston would complete the pass, grabbing the lead. A bit back in the back the #6 of Griffith and the #92 of Meredith were having a good battle. The #85 of Goldsmith had settled in 6th and was turning his fastest laps with the series and looking racey. The best battle on the track had to be between Dalton and Otey. Dalton all over the back of Otey and peeking to the inside often, on entry and the center. Those 2 battled for more than 30 of the 40 lap event, good stuff. Back to the leader, the #95 of Weston, Zillon Felts owned 69 Mustang, was untouchable this day and with 2 laps to go was on cruise control. White flag in the air, 1 more lap. Weston in the lead and Dalton patiently worked back by Otey for 2nd and the Modified lead with 4 tenths of a mile to go. Checkers would waive over Weston.

1- Josh Weston - Sportsman winner
2 - Barry Dalton - Modified winner
3 - Shawn Otey - Sportsman
4 - Tanner Griffith - Limited Sportsman winner
5 - Todd Meredith - Limited Sportsman
6 - Michael Goldsmith - Limited Sportsman
7 - Preston Clark - Modified
8 - Austin Weaver - Limited Sportsman
