What a great week of recognition! Congratulations to Sensei Sam on winning the Isshinryu Hall of Fame’s Junior Competitor of the Year. There were so many great finalists! This was a great banquet night in Gatlinburg Tennessee with about 500 in attendance that celebrated the best in Isshinryu!

Congratulations to Sensei Sam for being selected as a 2027 AAU Ambassador!!!! Sam walks the walk and embodies what karate is about and what AAU represents! We can’t wait to see you shine this year! 🙌🥋💙

Finals Results are in! Congratulations to Isaiah’s team for taking first place in Male Rotational Kumite 🏆 Congratulations to Sensei Sam for winning Male Heavyweight VS Lightweight Kumite Grand Champion! 🏆A great week for our dojo and great Finals outcome for our athletes! 🇺🇸🥋

Nationals has been a whirlwind! 🥋❤️🤍💙

Days 2 and 3 have kept us so busy that we haven’t even had a chance to post. That’s a good problem to have!

Our athletes have been competing with heart, supporting one another, and representing West Coast Karate with incredible sportsmanship. We’re so proud of every competitor who has stepped onto the mat this week.

Tonight, we’re cheering extra loud as Sensei Sam competes for the Advanced Male Grand Championship, taking on the challenge of Heavyweight vs. Lightweight for the title.

Then, it’s right back on the mat for Sensei Sam as he meets Isaiah and Jordan and the rest of their teams in the Team Kumite Finals, where they’ll battle for 1st and 2nd place.

No matter what happens, these athletes have already made us proud. They’ve trained hard, supported each other, and left everything on the mat.

Day 1 of the 2026 AAU Nationals is in the books!

There were incredible performances on the tatami, tough matches, and so many moments that reminded us why we love this sport.

One of the best parts of Nationals is reconnecting with friends from across the country. Competition pushes us to be better, but the friendships and community we build along the way are what make these events truly special.

We’re proud of every athlete who stepped onto the mat today. Win or lose, every match is an opportunity to learn, grow, and represent your dojo with heart.
