Lil' Halos

Lil' Halos is an organization committed to providing hope and life changing experiences for foster children. It is about knowing they are not alone.

There are thousands of children currently in the foster care system. For many of these children they bounce from foster home to foster home toting their black garbage bag with their only possessions. They never have a chance or the opportunity to build trust with anyone and they never feel special. Every child has a story to tell and sadly their life stories are of the ugliness and sadness of this world. We want to write on a page of their book something of hope, love and worthiness. We want to send as many of these kids as we can to summer camp for a week. Summer camp for these children is about making good memories. It is about building trust and making lasting friendships. Many of these campers join our camp year after year and have come to know our counselors and the other children there. Our camp has trained counselors that are passionate about working with these kids. We have one counselor for every camper so that every child receives undivided attention all week long. We provide swimming lessons, crafts, outdoor survival, woodworking, archery and nightly games. We have evening chapel time with a message of love and acceptance which sometimes opens the door to allow for them to feel safe to express their own feelings and experiences if they want to. Each child leaves camp with a personalized scrap book with messages from all the counselors, filled with photographs of their week at camp. They also receive a gift bag with a blanket, bathing suit, beach towel, and shoes.
