A short message from our Junior Mustangs Coach AKA Coach Mom

My name is Amanda Anderson and I am the Head Coach for the Junior Valley Mustangs this year. I wanted to tell you a little about myself for those of you who don’t know me. Our family moved to Madawaska a little over 5 years ago. We own a small farm on Gagnon road. My husband works remotely from our basement for The Chickasaw Nation in Oklahoma. We have 2 boys who play football, one for Varsity and one for Juniors. I owned a CrossFit box in Oklahoma for just over 3 years before we moved here. I have little experience coaching football. I volunteered with Coach Mike Guay for a few years before he moved on. Last year I helped Coach Jesse, but I have never done much more than that. So as far as am I an experienced football coach, I absolutely am not. I don’t have a lot of familiarity with football aside from volunteering and watching games on TV. So I am not deceived into believing I have this all figured out. But what I do know is that I have 2 kids who want to play football, one of them, Aiven, eats, sleeps and breathes the game. I know we needed a coach for these kids to be able to play and I know my heart is in it. I am willing to learn and grow and teach and to try my best to give these kids, ALL these kids, every chance to have the opportunity to get to play. I’ll admit, it’s scary, it’s challenging, it’s new, and I am not the most confident going into this. But it’s a perfect opportunity for me to lead by example. I want these kids to see me do this, in all my victories and failures, in spite of how hopeless this may seem, I want them to see me rise up to the challenge, I want them to see me try and know they can try too. I want them to see me not quit, not until every avenue has been traveled and even then, if we don’t have a team, I want them to see me, not throw my hands up and quit, but I’ll start getting ready for next time, the next opportunity to once again give it my all. It would be so much easier for me to say I’m too busy, I have too much to do, it’s too hard, I don’t feel like I can do it, it doesn’t seem like other people want to-but I refuse! The struggle is real, but what struggle in life isn’t? If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing 100% all the way! Football, along with so many other things in life is a team effort, it may not always look the way we think it should, and it may not always have the result we wanted, but if we stick together, we can’t go wrong. We will still come out winners because we didn’t quit. I want to see this league grow, I want to see this team grow and I want to see each individual player grow. So, that being said, I’m going to continue to give it my all in spite of whatever it may look like now or in the future, even if things don’t work out the way I hope, I’m still going to keep learning, growing and trying my best and to give my best to this team and these kids and this sport.
So if there is any of you who know kids grades 6-8 that might want to play we are meeting at the Norstate field in frenchville from 4-6pm, Monday-Friday, if they can’t make every practice, I understand and we will work around that. If there are any parents who are willing to help with coaching, you don’t have to know a lot, even just helping with setup and drills and being available for what’s needed will be much appreciated! If there are any parents able to help with transportation as well, please let us know, we don’t want any player who wants to play not be able to play due to lack of a ride. Also, girls are welcome to play! 🏈💛🖤 A NEW CHAPTER FOR VALLEY MUSTANG FOOTBALL 🖤💛🏈

To all of our Valley Mustang supporters, families, friends, and community members…

As many of you have read, we made the difficult decision to step away from the MPA this year. It was not a decision we made lightly. Our current players have worked incredibly hard, and our responsibility has always been to do what is safest for them while also protecting the future of football in our community.

And now, we are excited to share what comes next. 🐎

We are going to compete as an independent team, and we have already secured 7 games against teams that play in the independent league! We can’t officially play in the MIFL Championship but we will play football. That means our players will still have the opportunity to compete, grow, make memories, and play the game they love. 🏈

But this next chapter is about more than just football.

It’s about our community coming together for our kids.

Because we are no longer under MPA restrictions, we can welcome players from throughout our area — including our Canadian family and friends. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

If you are in grades 6–12, ages 10–18, we want you to come be a Mustang.

To our current players: this is your team. You have stuck with us, worked hard, and continued to show up even when things weren’t easy. We are incredibly proud of you. We are going to keep fighting to give you a team, a season, and a football program you can be proud to call your own. 💛🖤

And now we need our community to help us build that future.

Bring your friends. Bring your classmates. Bring the kid who has always wanted to try football but never thought they had a place. There is a place for you here.

And this year, there is NO COST TO PLAY. We have the equipment. All you need is cleats, a water bottle, and a good attitude.

Football has always been about more than the game. It teaches teamwork, commitment, toughness, accountability, and most importantly, that you don’t have to do things alone.

We are Valley Mustangs. We take care of our own. 🐎

Let’s come together, support these kids, and show them what our community can do when we refuse to give up.
