Blue Dragon Martial Arts Wisconsin

On September 17, 2025 our very own Sensei Dean Carnahan tested and promoted to 4th Dan Black Belt. Sensei Dean demonstrated Arnis techniques, Katana form (complete with theatrical back drop), knife self defense, and our Black Belt Kung Fu form Sooho Kwan. Dean did an excellent job demonstrating his growth in the martial arts. Sitting on the promotion panel were Master Bruce Goodman, Master Roy Aaroen, Sensei Ben Poller, Grandmaster Gordy Simle, Master Bill Ring, Master Janet Ring.

Blue Dragon Martial Arts would like to congratulate our very own Sensei Ben, who was recently promoted to purple belt in Brazilian Jujitsu. Purple belt is a very prestigious belt in Jujitsu, as it shows a very high level of expertise and ability to teach. Also present were Sensei Dean and Master Aaroen. Sensei Dean graciously stepped in at the last moment to be Sensei Ben's testing assistant.

Sensei Dean and I had a fun weekend at the Reis Martial Arts Tournament in Marshfield, WI. Sensei Dean took 1st place in weapons (Bo), and sparring. Great job Sensei Dean.

We continue to have fun studying Jujitsu with Sensei Ben. Sensei Ben holds a 4th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and is preparing to test for his purple belt in Brazilian Jujitsu. Purple is a very prestigious rank in Brazilian Jujitsu showing knowledge of all the techniques, and being able to teach them fluidly.

Sensei Ben, Sensei Dean, and Grandmaster Gordy, are formally training together at Blaso Brazilian Jujitsu. Sensei Ben has been training in Jujitsu for years, but it is new for Sensei Dean and I. We are totally hooked, and have been training every week since March.

Grandmaster Simle giving thumbs up to returning for training after enduring 2 weeks of Covid. Master Aaroen taking the selfie, was excited to work once again on creating a new Tonfa form for competition.

Our very own Sensei Ben promoted to 4th degree black belt on August 28, 2022. We are so very proud of his accomplishments in the martial arts, and his career. Sensei Ben always brings energy and innovation to everything he does.
