Great city hike with our friend and the a couple weeks back. Really is a pretty place 😻
inside the mind of our baby on their first train trip
We want to coin a phrase "amtrapped" for when cancels the only train out of town 😠this is the second time this has happened to us now. But both times it's honestly made our trip better though Just gotta go with the flow

Baby's first public transit!!! The ferry from Oakland to SF this weekend. We'd be lying if we said this was stress free 😂 our little one was happy and easy going, but it's hard to not worry about noise germs and turbulence when you're out and about. Call it exposure therapy for a couple new parents!

6 weeks old and baby hiking has begun! We'll be hitting more of our local trails preparing for some baby camping later this year 🚀

We just got one more reason to love safe streets! We just had a baby!
Travel has slowed down for us lately. Growing a human makes jumping through the logistics hurdles of the US transit/bicycle infrastructure just a little too tiring.
But we're excited for the next chapter of the solarpunk travel journey and how to adapt our slow travel life to work with our little one around. The cargo bike is already ordered!

I finally finished my solar covered velomobile and it's way less cool than I thought 😞 But it works and I'll be testing it out around town seeing how long I can go without plugging it in to charge.

BART to bike to hike last weekend. Headed out toward the Lafayette stop and biked up to the Rheem Valley trail and the Lafayette reservoir.

Rolled our bikes onto the Coast Starlight train for a weekend in Monterey to meet our long-time IG flight-free and ebike aficionado friend, IRL! We caught the train in Emeryville and hopped off in Salinas. Then it's just a 15-ish mile, fairly flat (for CA) ride to Seaside, partly through Fort Ord National Monument, which is a lovely ride as it closes the road to cars on the weekend! gave us an amazing bicycle tour around town and brought us to some fantastic vegan restaurants. We also got to see the ship restored to her full glory. This felt quite serendipitous as we happened to see this ship in the process of being restored when we were biking touring through Port Townsend a couple of years ago.

We found a way to Tahoe car free! Great for not having to drive in the terrible traffic. The has a shuttle that goes straight from the store to several ski places in Tahoe. It was pretty affordable and they even offer discounted lift tickets through the program. It picks up around 5:30 and we were in the mountain by 8:30. Slept on the bus and had a great day.
We'll definitely be using this a lot more in the future!
