Challengers took down undefeated Palmyra Eagle on on the road Friday night in a thrilling battle for the conference title! Challengers complete their undefeated season.

After going down 0-7 early on a Palmyra Eagle (PE) trick play, the Challengers stormed back to take a 28-7 lead at halftime. In the second half, PE defense and special teams helped them claw their way back to within a score at 28-23. PE was able to get the ball back late in the game and with under 2 minutes left, PE had a 3rd and 10 on the Challengers’ 20 yard line when Keanan M. jumped an out route and made a spectacular interception to seal the game!

🔥 The Prairie Hawks dominated this one with 17 shots on goal. The only one that snuck through was a Victor goal assisted by Evan. That was all they needed with Declan and the rest of the defense pitching a shutout. ⚽️

🏆 The ALCS/SAA Football team finishes 2026 UNDEFEATED!!! ☝️

The Southeast-8 Conference Championship last night featured the 7-0 Palmyra-Eagle Panthers versus the 7-0 Challengers @ Palmyra. Palmyra struck first with a misdirection play for a long touchdown pass. The Challengers bounced back with ferocity scoring the next 28 points including a long touchdown right before the half to take a 28-7 lead.

Palmyra made really good halftime adjustments and the Challengers offense stalled for much of the second half. After a safety and a couple touchdowns the Panthers battled all the way back to make it 23-28.

Palmyra-Eagle got one last chance to take the lead and drove the ball all the way down to the Challengers 15 yard-line. Keanan came up with the play of the game by intercepting a 3rd and 10 pass returning it to midfield with about 1:30 left.

The Challengers ran the rest of the clock out to secure the 28-23 victory, the Conference Championship, AND an undefeated season!

Well done coaches, well done players, thanks for the parent support, and good job showing up to the game Challenger Nation!

The Challengers will have one more JV game on Tuesday October 13 at 4:00pm vs South Beloit.
