After I dropped the ball last year, these ladies rebounded with a force. All 5 of our elegible athletes are 1st Team Academic All State!

Congrats to Maylie Skinner, Maya Bullock, Bella Zuckschwerdt, Kearston Phillips, and Hannah Ferguson.

This is one of most coaches I know favorite awards.
You must be a Regional Qualifier(64 across the entire State per weight class), Sophomore or older, and hold a 3.25 cumulative gpa or higher which is then compared to your peers.

These ladies make us proud to be Cubs!

“The ultimate measure of a [person] is not where [they] stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where [they] stand at times of challenge and controversy.” - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Maylie Skinner becomes Madison Girls Wrestling’s first 4x State Qualifier. She also becomes our 2nd 3x State Placer, notching 101 career wins along the way, 2nd most in girls program history. Maylie was a 3x Sectional and 2x Regional Champion, both good for most all time.

Maylie cements herself not just as one of Madison’s best wrestlers or female athletes, but one of Madison’s best athletes EVER.

As we prepare for The 2nd IHSAA Girls Wrestling State Tournament, I would like to take a look back at some of the young women that helped make this possible.

The IHSGW era ran from 2017-2024 in which MCHS compiled 11 State Qualifiers, 9 State Placers, 1 State Runner-Up and 1 State Champion.

Including last years inaugural IHSAA State Tournament, this year brings MCHS up to an 8 year streak of state qualifiers, making it 9 out of 10 years we’ve been represented.

Here are our State Qualifiers from the IHSGW era.
