Replacing the 58 year old steering gearbox must have made the ol’ girl happy. To quote my dad “it drove like a GD ferry boat!” Those days are gone and she drove both of us right to the winner circle within 3 hours of each other. The Bootheel Fuel and Gas Drags at Skelton Raceway is always a good time. We appreciate the hard work it takes to put on this race. Thanks to Buddy, Brian, the Skelton Raceway crew and all of their families and ALL of the sponsors who pitch in to make this event happen. And we can’t forget our buddy Jeff Pittsinger who was the master mind behind this race (who hated Camaros). We are glad to see his brain child carries on. If your ride is ‘72 or older, you should check this out next year. I guarantee you will have a good time.

Racing weekend recap:
Points race #5 and #6 are in the books. It is was a hot one this weekend!! Saturday began with a late start due to the rain and then some rain delays. We won 3rd round of SP at 1:11 Sunday morning. Got back to the trailer to refuel and it started raining, again! Despite their best efforts, the track was not going to be dried within a reasonable amount of time and the decision was made to finish this race later Sunday morning. The rest of round 3 resumed at 9am, and then moved to the remaining rounds with no time runs. We managed to get the Camaro to the semi finals again and guess who we met up with?! Mr. Angelo Belosi ended our “Saturday” race at 4 cars. The Camaro ran 4 numbers slow and despite having a .001 advantage on the tree, I could not get there. Seems we are always 1 round shy of meeting in the finals! The rest of “Saturday’s” race was completed and we
moved right into “Sunday’s” race. We made it to 4th round where we turned it .001 red with 14 cars left. The little door car Camaro managed to take out a few dragsters throughout the weekend. That’s always fun! Did I mention how hot it was???
Now we will have a team meeting to decide which car goes in the trailer for the holiday races at WWT this week. Camaro? Dragster? Both? We will watch the weather. Currently, we are showing isolated storms on Thursday and Friday. Those isolated storms always manage to hit WWT! By the way, did I mention how hot it was? 🥵
