This past weekend, WI-MAFC hosted Professor Jared Winter Jessup of iQ Jiu-Jitsu for our quarterly BJJ seminar. Both the Kids and Adult sessions were awesome, with students and instructors demonstrating their strong discipline, technical proficiency, and enthusiasm for learning. All our Juniors and Little Scorpions received stripe promotions, as did several Adults. We also have some special belt promotions to celebrate for four of our adult Instructors and Assistant Instructors: 🔵Ms. Katie Brunner (white to blue), 🟣Mr. Jon Meade (blue to purple), 🟤Ms. Elyse Pierce (purple to brown), and 🟤Mr. Kevin Mancusi (purple to brown). These promotions represent years of hard work, dedication, and leadership, with hours and hours of mat time spent drilling, rolling, and teaching, and many more spent behind the scenes in service to the operation of the school. Please join us in congratulating these four on these important milestones!!! Finally, we wish to thank Professor Jessup and his wife Misty for making the long journey up to Madison, to Instructor Dean for organizing and hosting the event and for the superb year-round BJJ instruction he provides, and to all the parents and families who made seminar attendance possible for so many of our students in the middle of a very busy weekend. Thank you all and congratulations!!!

We have another 💐Mother’s Day💐 shoutout to announce, and that is to all the moms (and dads and grandmas and grandpas) who supported our full day of events on Saturday! Instructor Mansoor’s mom Lena has taken part in TWO different WI-MAFC events over the past two weeks (the MS Walk and the Mother’s Day Self-Defense), and a whole crowd of parents, relatives, and care-givers were dedicated enough to endure the crowds in order to bring their kids to The Hub for our seminar Saturday afternoon. Thank you all! Our school would not function without kind, committed people like you!!! 🤗🤗🤗

On Saturday, May 2nd, a group of WI-MAFC instructors and family members participated in the Walk MS fundraiser to support Instructor Neugent and the MS community. They completed the 1-mile walk on a beautiful Saturday morning at Warner Park. This was a great opportunity for team-building and community support and we look forward to participating again in the near future.

UW LAF: Last Saturday, Instructors Dean and Neugent ran a seminar alongside Dr. Kecia Doyle for students and parents in the Leadership in Adaptive Fitness program at UW Madison. This program allows for the marriage between adaptive kinesiology and our martial arts, fitness, and self-defense curriculum. It is always a fun time at these events, and Instructors Dean and Neugent do an excellent job at engaging the audience with hands-on participation. Thank you Dr. Doyle and the entire LAF program!!!
