Juneteenth is the oldest national celebration commemorating the end of slavery in America. While the Emancipation Proclamation was signed January 1, 1863, the news took two-and-a-half years to reach enslaved people in Galveston, Texas. Today at the Y, we celebrate Freedom Day!

It's the first Saturday of the month, so it's Walk With a Doc time! Join us tomorrow at 9 am at McKee Farms Park in Fitchburg to meet new people, get some fresh air and hang out with a doctor. Sheila Knerr, MD will give the group a brief health talk about the importance of staying hydrated. Everyone is welcome, and participants are encouraged to ask questions and walk at their own pace.
