Last Saturday, my talented dance students showcased their hard work and dedication in an incredible performance at Central library Madison for Library takeover - Mindfulness, the Indian Way. 🌟 I’m so proud of them for their passion and commitment. Their energy lit up the stage, and it was a joy to see them shine. A different type of celebration this year with my cute and wonderful students.

Throwback to Salangai poojai (Ankle bell wearing ceremony) of my students Rivekka and Amy as they graduated to next level in Bharatnatyam.

Rivekka is a fun loving and smart kid who continues to show great level of curiosity when it comes to learning dance.

Amy is a mature, sincere and dedicated girl who does not compromise when it comes to dance.

Happy to be able to teach them this beautiful art form.

I am pleased to share with you all that couple of my students trained and participated in TaoLi World Dance competition Regional level and won Elite platinum award (Top most award) and thereby getting selected for the finals happening in New York in December. Also I won Outstanding Choreography award for my team. No words to explain the happiness. Looking forward to create many more such memories with all my students. Happy Thanksgiving!

Salangai(Ankle bells) Poojai is performed for a student when she is eligible to move from Grade I to Grade II. On that day, poojai is done for the new salangai and the guru offers the same to the student. The student wear their salangai for the first time and perform the Grade I steps in front of friends and family gathered there. Then she will learn her very first song (Pushpanjali) after the poojai. A certificate will be given to the student, meaning that she has completed the Grade I properly. In this day and age of buying the costume, jewelry and the salangai even before the children start classes, it makes sense to emphasize the value of a salangai pooja and why one needs to go through at least some formal study before wearing the salangai.

3 kids and 5 adults from Shri Naatiya Vidhyalayaa Dance school Madison won Gold award and Cultural Ambassador (Special award) in Taoli World Dance Competition Chicago Regional 2018. I am very proud to be their dance teacher. Special Thanks to Xinli Chen for creating this opportunity and Raghavan Mohan for always supporting me no matter what... :)
