High School Final…

Wally Weekend at WWT - Points Races 3&4 (last weekend)

Jr. Lightning:
Cohen had some close races in his Jr. on Saturday and Sunday but just couldn’t get it done. He went out Saturday with an .011 light and Sunday with an .018 light.

High School:
Co was able to pull off the win on Saturday earning him a full size, NHRA 75th Edition - Diamond Wally! He did not know that high school was eligible for the coveted trophy so he was very surprised when KeKe handed it to him when we rolled up for winner’s pictures. This was definitely the weekend highlight!
On Sunday Co went out in the semis in another super tight race.

Sportsman:
Saturday Co lost 2nd round with a red light. On Sunday Cohen was on a roll making it down to 6 cars before his opponent was Be00Take00.

Super Pro:
Made progress in the Chevy II switching the converter and changing the shocks and springs. The 60’ was a lot more consistent but the wind made it a little harder to repeat the number. Looking to do some testing before the next race. Kennedy managed to pull off one round win over two races. K is always happy to be driving no matter the circumstances, but this has been a test in patience that is for sure!

Up Next:
Currently in route to stop #6 of Cohen’s Farewell Tour - Memorial Day Coal Rush Twenties at I57.

Spent last weekend at WWT Raceway for the TB Promotions Twin Fifties event, marking week 4 of a 16 week stretch of Cohen’s “Jr. Drag Racing Farewell Tour”! Unfortunately, only the Jr. Dragster was entered since K’s car still isn’t quite where we want it to be competitively.

The weekend didn’t go quite as planned for Cohen. Friday’s race was rained out, leaving only one time run Saturday morning to get dialed in. Co picked up a first round win, but second round was a heartbreaker. He was .034 to a .023 up front and took .007 at the stripe to go just .003 under.

Sunday was spent in the garage swapping out the converter on the Chevy II. New shocks and springs ordered and arriving today. If these changes don’t result in improvements, there is a Plan B in the works…but…it’s a little drastic so stay tuned!

Next stop of the Farewell Tour:
WWT points races 3 & 4 of the season this weekend!
Rain please stay away!

Saturday was the first 7.90 Heads Up Jr. race of the season…Cohen bowed out 2nd round when his car had a major stumble. The weather was a little cold and with the forecast for next weekend looking like similar conditions, Co was glad to stay and test. He changed the pilot and was able to make several clean passes.

Kennedy did some testing in the Chevy II. It’s still not very consistent so the trial and error process of swapping out parts will continue…

Sunday Cohen and Doug went to Bonne Terre to race the Camaro in No Box. Co made it to the final… was .009 on the tree and killed 2 mph against a 6.15 car but broke out by a heartbreaking .003. Car and driver are where they need to be (no more changes for this car at least) and he is ready for the next points races at WWT.

Friday night time runs…ready to race tomorrow!

First race weekend of the season at WWT Raceway last weekend! Cohen had one heck of a performance across multiple classes Saturday night. He worked his way into not 1, not 2, but 3 finals!

In Jr. Lightning, he came up just short in a super tight final, losing by only .004 at the stripe. In High School Cohen was able to get through some tough competition to run the final where once again he had the better reaction time that carried him to the High School win! He finished off the night (actually the next morning) with the Sportsman final at 2:15 am. Both cars were running quicker than the dial and Cohen lost on a double breakout by .001 at the stripe. He was on the tree all day and set a personal best ET of 11.51. The hard work put in over the winter seems to be paying off!

Co took home two runner up and one winner trophy, a big check, and 1K in cash. Not a bad day at the office!

Ironically, Sportsman was the class Cohen was on the fence about running just because it makes the day pretty hectic. He ultimately decided to go ahead and do it knowing that he would be transitioning to full time big car racing next season. He’s not only getting valuable seat time, but is benefitting from the experience of racing against veteran drivers. He is holding his own and enjoying the challenge.

Kennedy went a few rounds in Super Pro with the Nova. She had a perfect light and received one of the new WWT Perfect Light stickers. The car got several upgrades over the winter and we don’t quite have it all lined out yet. We even took it to Bonne Terre Friday night to try and pinpoint the problem. It continues to be a work in progress.

Sunday Cohen fell off the map a bit. The Camaro was a little inconsistent with the strong winds and lost due to breaking out. He did go rounds in Sportsman again, making it down to 6 cars. Kennedy went out round 2 of Super Pro but not for lack of effort. She was .001 on the tree but the car picked up 5 numbers and there wasn’t much she could do.

Up next…heading out of town tomorrow for King of KC at Flying H. One time run Friday night and racing on Saturday. Stay tuned…

We took the Camaro to Bonne Terre yesterday to test out the new converter. After some issues with the line lock sticking, Cohen went a 7.41 on the first pass. He made some changes in the tune and footbraked it a little higher to run a personal best of 7.36. The car looks super consistent running between a 7.38 to 7.36 in the last five passes. Next weekend we will be at WWT to see what it will run in the 1/4 mile and make some test hits in the JR.

Another great weekend of racing...points races 5 and 6 at WWT. After getting knocked out in the semis on Saturday, Kennedy got the job done on Sunday and gave her dad a Father's Day Win! Thanks Byron Kinne and Chris Vaultonburg for your help figuring out the problem with Kennedy's car and for running K's car when she was against her brother 3rd round! She couldn't have done this without you! We have the best race family!
Thanks Spurr Family for coming out and supporting Hale Racing!
Finally...big shout out to our sponsors... Mike Elliott Snap-on Tools-Customers Only, Transmissions To Go, Meramec Heights Collision Center, and Performance Auto Body!
Next Up...MJSS Indy
