Mowed 10-4-2025 for the last time. Course will be good for the winter. Next June, I will be looking for a new home for 18 baskets to donate if someone can find a new park in Madison or Limestone County to establish a new course. Contact me if you think you can make it happen.

Stepping stones can be crossed, course is playable. W**d eating will have to wait until my back feels up to it.
Tractor fixed, took three days to get all the mowing done. Course is playable, but dead tree on creek is blocking stepping stones at the moment at hole 11 transition, next problem on my list. After that, gotta get the w**d wacker running.
Mahindra says the replacement harness for my tractor is now scheduled for arrival 13 July. Friggin' mice chewed up the wiring good. Some of you may know by now this is the last year Knox Creek will be open to the public for play with a liability waiver. Next year, I plan to close it down as its become too much work for me to continue taking care of in my increasing infirmity and dotage. :) That, and it's been increasingly difficult to get the tractor across the creek safely as periodic flooding scours out the best passages across. I promise I'll post when I've finally got the tractor back and the course is mowed.
Mowing won't happen until mid to late May, tractor broke, getting fixed at dealer.
Update 5-29-25 Mice destroyed wiring harness in dash of tractor, replacement on back order. Course is pretty much unplayable until I get the tractor back.

The storm last Tuesday brought a log down stream yanking out two of my stepping stones. The rebar is half inch diameter, bent them over and popped the 150 pound stepping stones up like bottle caps. Put them back yesterday after fishing them out of the creek a ways down. Replaced the rebar with 5/8". Brrrr! Knox Creek is pretty when it's cold!
Mowed both sides, 5-30-24. Spray up, chiggers and ticks are bad near water every year.

We seem to have a visitor. I knocked, tents don't knock well. Nobody home.

The old wood bridge in Knox Creek Park has been badly damaged by vandals, enough to make it dangerous to use. I've extended the stepping stones at the East end of the course, backtrack from basket at hole 19 along the creek, follow the trail down and cross to end up back at hole 1. Like the others, there's 5/8" rebar set in holes drilled into limestone most of the way across, but they are buttressed with gravel bits to keep them from wobbling. Like the others, after a heavy rain, flooding can be strong enough to wash away the gravel and make them wobbly until I fix it, so be careful.

People often ask what I look for to get 7 day a week access for five years. It's all kinds of things, all targeting work of about 3 hours plus on the course. Mike and Drew replaced two of the stepping stones in a dip with taller ones so that on high water days, those two stones are no longer stopping you from crossing. Benches are something I want, good quality treated wood, and anchored to the ground. And there are other things I want which are hard work and would be like rewarded. Contact me when you've got a Saturday or Sunday morning to waste and I'll let you know.
