Offering classes in Aikido – the art of peace – for adults and kids since 1984. Saotome Sensei has been teaching Aikido in the United States since 1975.

Aikido of Madison is a member of Aikido Schools of Ueshiba, an organization headed by Master Mitsugi Saotome, a personal student of O-Sensei for 15 years. We who practice Aikido in Madison consider ourselves fortunate to be able to train under an inspiring teacher who was so close to the founder of Aikido. Sunday funday! When people watch Aikido they are often watching nage(the person throwing) but that's only half of Aikido the other half is uke (receiving technique/being throw) which can be equally as fun and exciting! Learning how to fall from various situations can keep you safe in your everyday life. Demonstrated here is koshi-nage which translates to hip throw.

If you or someone you know has been curious about Aikido, now is a perfect time to learn more.

Aikido of Madison will host an Aikido Open House on Saturday Janaury 31 from 3-5 pm. Tour the building, ask questions, feel the mat, watch a demo, and even try a few basic techniques.

We are pleased to announce that Orion, after over three years in our youth program, has transitioned to adult testing - and received his 6th kyu today. This young person is a role model in our youth program and an inspiration for adults. We are so lucky to have him in our community! ❤️

The Aikido of Madison community would like to congratulate Stephen on a wonderful Sandan (3rd degree black belt) test! While we are sad his work career is taking him away from Wisconsin. He will always have a second home at Aikido of Madison! Congrats Stephen!
