Working on handsprings today. Good job everyone. One step closer
62 years young!
I know a lot of people have come to expect my handspring videos on my birthday. I am 62 now and the body just starts to change as you age. Some things that were easy last year, somehow became more difficult. Shoulders and body got tighter and less willing to do what the mind wants it to do. So, I’m sad to say I am retiring from the handspring birthday videos.

Reconnected with two of my Students from my Dojang in Baytown circa 1995. I reached out to one while in Dallas this past weekend. Went to lunch with him and was able to catch up on our lives. So good to see him…. Hopefully meeting up with the other very soon. So blessed to have such great people in my life. I love my job!
We try to mix things up a little when kicking across the floor. Returning with Scorpion, Moon Walk (or B***y Scootin’ Boogie), Gator, Inch Worm, Toad, Army Crawl, Toe Crawls etc. Good for body conditioning and fun.

Several people told me to close the large openings because they are an insulation leak. No way I was giving them up. So nice having the fresh air and natural light on days like this.

I haven’t been able to do the seated forward stretch this far for over 23 years. I took over this school in 2002 and had not trained for three years prior. I came back like I never left. After a month or two of bouncing my knee off my shoulder on straight leg kicks, I woke up one morning and could barely move my legs. My left healed up fully, but my right Glute/Hamstring has been a constant issue. Whenever I would kick shoulder height with a straight leg kick, it would feel like something was tearing off the bone in the glute area. Well, I was sprinting and injured that spot in some way. It was the most pain I’ve felt in my life (aside from Master Sonny Boyall punching on it for 45 minutes two days in a row) It’s been about 5 weeks now and I don’t have any pain whatsoever in that spot. Just normal stretch in the hamstring. None of my kicking motions seem to be affected. My thought is an adhesion or scar tissue formed, and the ballistic motion of sprinting broke it loose. The human body is amazing.
