Come to Tanner-Hiller (8B5) this weekend, food, fun, friends. All types of aviation. Camping welcome tonight and tomorrow night.
If Ida misses us as the forecast predicts weather should be good for the Tanner 8B5 fly-in this weekend. We will have Brisket, Burgers and Dogs. Side dishes are welcome. We have no idea who may show up but we will be there. Camping available Friday and Saturday nights.
So far I’ve received a handful of positive replies to the Labor Day event at Tanner_Hiller (8B5). One person noted that the FAA ADF lists the field as “closed PPR”. I confirmed with the manager that this was only to alert pilots to existing field conditions, the airport is open. I have posted comments detailing conditions on ForeFlight. Generally, the paved runway is fair to poor condition to people accustomed to hard surface operations but still usable. There are a couple locations with loose pavement on the edges of 24 approach end and at the threshold of 06. The centerline is clear. The southwest end of the taxiway is bad and to be avoided. The northeast end is clear. Grass is available on both sides but the east side is better. Typically, grass departures can be performed from either 24 or 06 but available length varies depending on wind conditions. An Airboss will be assigned to assist arrivals on 123.00. More details to follow as we get addition confirmations. I can be contacted at 413-686-0068 with questions.

The club is holding an impromptu gathering Saturday 9/4 on Labor Day weekend at Tanner-Hiller Airport (8B5) on Mcavoy Road in Newbraintree, MA. This is open to all who fly or are interested in aviation. One club member has donated 2 Briskets to smoke in addition to standard cook out options. Side dishes are always welcome.

The field will be open Friday 9/3 for those wishing to camp, same applies for Saturday night.

We hope to have our Tail Dragger friends come and have a STOL competition.

Rhett is on the field towing hang gliders which is always cool to watch. Those interested can talk to Rhett about a tandem ride. Our Sprint II is up and running for intro rides for a modest donation.

Please respond to this announcement with your interest to attend. More info to follow.

You know it's getting serious when you're flying over the Adirondacks and come across the Double Secret Back Yard (DSBY) STOL Practice Runway.

They must be practicing or simply forgot to roll it up when they finished.
Here are the rest of the photos from the other day.

First flight for first kit-built Bearhawk Model 5 — General Aviation News

I thought this photo worthy enough to put on our 2022 trophies and it seems that the folks at General Aviation News find it to be attention grabbing enough to headline their article on a different airplane as well as their take on The Northeast STOL Series! We’ll take the free publicity, for us and pilot Peter Brown our 2022 series champion in his Bearhawk Patrol making a textbook STOL landing.

We will have shuttle transportation available on Saturday from the airport if you want to visit the whoopie festival in town and then get back to the fly in! The whoopie pie festival is only a couple miles away! Plan is to run in and back every 30 minutes. The shuttle will pickup/drop off at the redemption center on South St across from True Value
Donations for the ride will go to Make A Wish Maine through the Wings for Wishes fundraiser!
The shuttle is meant for people who fly in and want to go to the festival. We would prefer that it not be used as an off site parking shuttle.
First run from airport will be at 9:30

06/22/2022

Alright kids young and old! Thanks to our local EAA Chapter, we will have an ice cream machine at the Fly-In/Stol on Saturday! With temps looking to be mid 80's who wouldn't want ice cream!! BTW, these darn things are way more complicated than I imagined! Lots of moving parts but after breaking my code of conduct and actually reading the instructions, we got it figured out! 🙃
Come early for breakfast and stay for lunch and ice cream! The Bird Dogs by Noyes gang will be cooking up some good eats. All food prices are by donation with the proceeds going to our favorite local charity Wings for Wishes for the Make a Wish Foundation of Maine. Last year $30,000 was raised by our good friendJim Cranee at his fundraiser event in August. We want to help Kick Start the event and help make that number even higher this year!

Come to Dover-Foxcroft this Saturday, enjoy all the whoopie pie festival has to offer then swing over to the airfield for some exciting STOL action.

Hi Everyone! The date for the Fly-In and STOL at the Charles A Chase Jr Memorial Airport (44B) in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine will be June 25th! Breakfast and lunch by donation will be provided by The Bird Dogs by Noyes gang. Breakfast will start at 8am.
This is also the same day as the Maine Whoopie Pie festival in town that starts at 10am! We decided to have the events on the same day because of the high gas prices so people wouldn't have to drive here twice! If you would like to fly in and attend the Whoopie pie festival, we will provide a shuttle (it's only a couple miles away) Stuff yourself with every flavor of whoopie pie imaginable and get back to the airport for the STOL event at 2pm!
We hope to see you there and hope someone brings us some Whoopie pies! Watermellon and Chocolate Peanut Butter are some favorites of the STOL crew I hear...
Keep an eye in the sky for those colorful powered parachutes starting Friday evening!
