For the 2027 Red Cedar Trail Races, we are officially introducing the inaugural Red Cedar 50 Miler. Whether you want to hammer the 5K, conquer the classic Half, take on the Marathon, or push yourself through 50 miles of Southern Illinois sandstone and roots, there’s a distance with your name on it.

Even if they maintain the same fitness they once had, by age 50, road runners tend to slow down by about 10% in the marathon, 11% in the half-marathon and 10K, and 12% in the 5K.

For ultrarunners, the rules appear to be different.
