A motorcycle rider in Bertoua says his bike has been missing for about one month after a woman dressed in police uniform allegedly took it away following a road accident.

The man told MMI News that he was returning from his farm when another motorcyclist, travelling at speed near a road construction site, pushed him into a parked car.

According to him, a woman dressed in police uniform came out of the vehicle and told him that his motorcycle would be taken to the Bertoua Central Police Station.

Because he did not have his national identity card with him, he returned home to collect it before going to the station. But when he arrived, he said the motorcycle was nowhere to be found.

He later met a police commissioner he knew, who directed him to file a complaint at the station’s secretariat.

The rider said that while he was explaining what had happened, the police secretary immediately asked him: “Was it a woman who took the motorcycle?”

When he answered yes, the officer allegedly stopped writing and sent him to the investigation room.

At the investigation room, he was reportedly sent back to the secretariat. When he returned, he said the secretary became angry, accused him of disturbing him and refused to continue taking the complaint.

The rider says he has since visited several police posts in Bertoua but has not been able to recover the motorcycle.

He also claims that two other men at the station said their motorcycles had been taken under similar circumstances and had remained missing for about two weeks.

The man is calling on the police hierarchy and administrative authorities in Bertoua to investigate the incident and help him recover the motorcycle, which he says was essential to his work and livelihood.

MMI News has not independently verified the allegations and has not yet received a response from the police.
