MEET THE PEOPLE WHO REFUSE TO LET THE PARTY END EARLY. 🎉🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Our Party Pacers are back, and what they represent is a huge part of what Malibu Moves is all about.

You’ll sometimes hear the phrase “back of the pack.”

We don’t really see a back.

We see someone taking on 13.1 miles.

We see someone who may be out there longer than most, which means they’re also asking their body and mind to keep going longer.

We see someone walking because that’s how they move best. Someone attempting their first half marathon. Someone coming back from a difficult season. Someone who trained around work, kids, life, setbacks and everything else that doesn’t show up on a finish clock.

And we see an achievement that deserves just as much energy at mile 12 as it did at mile 1.

That’s why we have Party Pacers. 🎉

They’re out there to encourage, celebrate, keep the energy alive and remind you that you belong on this course for every single mile you’re moving through it.

Because your race isn’t against the person ahead of you.

It isn’t against the person behind you.

The only comparison that matters is the one between the person who wondered if they could do it and the person who decided to try.

So whether you finish in 90 minutes, three hours, four hours, or somewhere in between, that finish line is yours.

A huge shoutout to our Party Pacers for bringing the encouragement, the joy and, yes, the PARTY. 🥳

We’re so proud to have you out there representing what Malibu Moves stands for.

Different paces. Different stories. Different reasons. Same finish line.

Run it. Walk it. Make it yours.

Malibu is about to move. 🌊

Saturday belongs to our kids, families and community, with the Kids Run, Zuma Dash, Expo and Kids Zone.

Then Sunday morning, Zuma Beach wakes up to the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K before we come back together to celebrate at the post-race festival.

Different ages. Different distances. Different goals.

One weekend that brings people together through movement.

October 24 + 25. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Zuma Beach.

09/26/2026

Picture yourself a month from now.

You’re at Zuma Beach. The ocean is right there. People are gathering around the start line. Families are cheering. And instead of seeing Malibu Moves on your screen, you’re part of it.

You don’t have to be the fastest. You don’t have to have done this before. And you definitely don’t have to call yourself a runner.

Choose the distance that feels right. Run it, walk it, or do a little of both.

There’s still time to say yes.

It’s starting to feel very real. 💛

We’re no longer talking about Malibu Moves as something months away. In just over 30 days, we’ll be back at Zuma Beach together.

Kids and families on Saturday. Runners and walkers taking on the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K on Sunday. Thousands of people showing up with their own goals, stories and reasons for moving.

This is the part of the year when everything we’ve been building starts becoming something you can feel.

October 24 + 25. We’re almost there, Malibu. 🌊

I Move For Malibu. What Do You Move For?

Five weeks. Then this becomes real. 🌊

It’s one thing to see Malibu Moves from above.

It’s another to be down there.

To arrive at Zuma Beach before the start. To look around and realize that thousands of people showed up for completely different reasons, but for one morning, they’re moving together.

Some will run. Some will walk. Some will be taking on a distance they never imagined themselves doing.

And five weeks from now, you could be one of them.

This is what’s waiting for you in Malibu.

I had the absolute pleasure of serving as the Spotlight Speaker at the latest Connections Breakfast, but I knew immediately that I didn’t want to tell this story alone.

Because you can’t really talk about community impact without talking about the people who make that impact possible.

I invited Karen Heller, President of the Malibu Education Foundation, and Mikey Pearson, former Malibu Mayor and Chair of the Community Brigade, to join me on stage.

I shared the story behind Malibu Moves and why we’ve worked so hard to create an event where everyone can feel like they belong. Runners and walkers. Different ages, abilities, body sizes, and experience levels. Even, and especially, the person who says, “I’m not a runner.”

But the finish line has never been the entire mission.

In just two years, Malibu Moves has donated more than $110,000 to charitable causes, with the majority remaining in Malibu. After the fires, supporting our schools, youth, recovery, and organizations working directly within our community became even more important.

Karen shared how Malibu Moves support helped launch a middle school athletics program that has since received ongoing public funding. Mikey spoke about the vital work of the Community Brigade and then shared his own Malibu Moves story: saying yes when he wasn’t sure he could do it, bringing his family along, and ultimately crossing the 5K finish line hand in hand with his wife.

His experience was a reminder that sometimes doing something hard simply reminds us that we are capable of hard things.

My message to the room was simple: protect and support community events.

They give us reasons to gather. They help us know our neighbors. They create morale, connection, and belonging. And when built intentionally, they can turn all of that goodwill into tangible impact.

And my second invitation?

Say yes to something that feels a little outside your comfort zone.

Maybe we’ll see you at Zuma Beach this October. 💛

Thank you to Karen and Mikey for sharing the stage with me, and congratulations to our raffle winners!

Six weeks from now, this could be you. 🌊

Moving along the Malibu coast. Taking in the Pacific. Hearing people cheer for you. And eventually making your way toward a finish line that means something completely personal.

There is still time.

Six weeks to walk. Run. Train. Build confidence. Start from where you are.

You don’t need to train like anyone else or arrive with someone else’s goal. You just need to keep moving toward yours.

Look through these photos and picture yourself here.

Because on October 24 and 25, this should be you.

Everyone can see someone cross a finish line.

What we can’t see is everything that came before it.

The mornings they didn’t feel like getting up.

The doubts.

The comeback.

The person they’re honoring.

The promise they made to themselves.

That’s why comparing your journey to someone else’s rarely tells the whole story.

Someone else may finish before you. Someone may finish after you. Someone may walk every step.

None of that determines what your finish means.

The clock measures time.

You give the finish line its meaning.

What makes us happy? 🏅

Seeing the entire 2026 Malibu Moves medal collection together certainly helps. 😍

But a medal becomes meaningful because of the story someone attaches to it.

For one person, it might represent their first 5K. For another, a comeback. For someone else, it might be a weekend spent moving alongside their children, friends or family.

Thousands of medals will be earned at Zuma Beach this October.

No two will mean exactly the same thing.

And that might be our favorite part.

Which one are you coming for?
