We close out the week on some great training. Unable to get the camera out much sadly. Did get some pictures of our powerful adults training one night. What great energy brought. We welcome Alison to our program and are very happy to have her here. Adam earned his camo/blue belt and Tom earned his camo/yellow In the little samurai program. Many students earning stripes. Now is the best time to come out and try a class. We are here and all you need to do is walk through the door

Super graduation last night!! Each and every student excelled beyond our expectations! Words can not say enough about how proud I am of how far they have come. Both Aiden and Lily rising up to the challenge of randori attacks earning their way into level two. Every student on the mat taking what they have learned and putting it to use. The genuine enthusiasm from students on the mat, students off the mat and all the families cheering make this one great and very unique place. Congrats to all!!

Sorry to bombard with many photos. Couple weeks since last post. We have accomplished so much. Congrats to Aiden and Kaelyn on their blocks patch accomplishment. (Watch video to see their determination against a never ending attack). Congrats to Adleigh for her memory patch. We welcome Jaylynn to our dojo. There are many more accomplishments I might have missed. Many students moving forward. Adults having fun and being kids. All students starting to learn the deeper secrets in this art. Come be a part of our dojo. There is no better time!!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our dojo moms and to moms everywhere!!

We had a special class yesterday where the moms (and mom stand ins) could join the fun and train with their child. By the smiles I’d say it went very well. The students gave mom a rose and candy and mom got to stripe her progressing forward student. Great day

Great end to the week. We welcome both Logan and Kaelyn to BBC, we also welcome both Sophia and Sicilia to our little samurai program. We worked very hard this week on a rear arm grab and cross wrist grab defense. Many students earning those progression stripes showing their determination and effort. Great place and great families here. Come see for yourself and stay tuned tomorrow for special Mother’s Day class that little samurai had

Great graduation ceremony last night!! Tons of energy and many smiles! The families and friends cheered the students on the whole time. Check out the videos and hear the positivity throughout the dojo. I am so proud to have so many great students and families

Love Monday classes! Students always seem to be bring their best and it showed. Last night we reviewed this months curriculum and then put it to a test with a randori (free response). They did so great. The confidence is growing inside each student. The entire time they are smiling. As always, just proud of all. Our adults are adapting to the hanbo very well by using it for various strikes and getting to favorable positions to defend. Such a great place to learn, decompress, and build confidence

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 04/24/2022

Great classes this week! More variations to various wrist grabs. Working our earth curriculum as always for a good foundation to build upon. Students continue to make huge strides. We welcome Logan to our youth and Mr. Turcotte to adults. We are steadily growing. Come be a part of this

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 04/22/2022

Check out some of our very strong adult students! So proud of them

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 04/17/2022

We have had a great week! We did a lot of hanbo work. Working the curriculum along with many variations to a particular attack. We even had a little fun with groups of students picking a super hero they would be. Then create a demonstration showing how that super hero would defend. They all had fun. And that is what it’s all about. Many earned patches for certain skills. Congratulations! We also welcome Emmitt to our youth program. We are growing every day. Come be a part of this unique place

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 04/10/2022

We finish up the week with some very important Hanbo striking drills and targeting while constantly moving our body to build a flow drill. The students caught on quickly. We also worked on various scenarios of a two handed choke and double wrist grab. Everyone is progressing so well. Many students earning patches for their hard work and effort. Keep going! Never stop learning and trying to better yourself each day. Congratulations to all!! Become a member of this dojo. Schedule a free trial class today. You won’t regret

We have had an excellent week so far. We have primarily been working on an attack from a two handed choke and various ways to deal with it. Watch the videos of Greyson and Gabriel. When we slow down and “exaggerate” the movement, magic happens. Awesome ex*****on for both of them. Students are getting the importance of keeping hands up for protection. My Little Samurai coaches are becoming more and more involved by showing drills and techniques which builds confidence for themselves. The adults are having a great time and sweating it up class after class. I say it all the time but I am so very proud of each and every student as well as the family members that come watch everyday. They are such a great group of people. I look forward to seeing them each day and be a small part of their journey in this very old and practical art

THIS!! This is what we are teaching! Students helping other students! We practice respect for all our students but I never demand they assist…they volunteer to do so. They do so because it is the right thing to do. That is the way we do things here at our dojo. I am so very proud of all of our students for the progress they have achieved both on and off the mat. We started a new month’s curriculum today. They all did so well. I even got to get in the mix by throwing some into a roll from standing. Take the time to watch the videos, please. Hear the applause and motivation from other students. Congratulations to all that earned patches and stripes this week! Your hard work and effort has been seen as you take the next step in this journey. I do love what I get to do but love even more seeing the smiles and proud moments of students accomplishing their own goals. Our dojo is waiting for you to walk through the door

We have been busy since Thursday’s graduation. We welcome Alexander and Leona to our youth program! Korie, Dominic and Jace all moved forward yesterday in the Little Samurai group, congratulations!! Our first member to the BBC (black belt club) took their oath last night, congratulations Mr. Dimotta! There will be more to follow I assure you. Many earning that stripe showing their individual progression. This week has been all about variations to our basic techniques. There are many, many ways to deal with a specific attack. Not just one. The more we know, the better we can handle any situation. As always, I am proud of our students. Come be a part of this place

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 03/25/2022

WOW!! What a great night!! So much energy from students and family during tonight’s graduation ceremony! They ALL did so awesome and I am very proud of their progression. We congratulate each one. We even have our very first level two student, Mr. Dimotta (shown in his free response video). I also showed that my journey does not end with a demo. Look at these students, look at the smiles, hear the enthusiasm…what a great job I have to be able to assist each student on their individual path. I never take for granted that this is a privilege and honor to do so. Thank you to our extended dojo family for allowing and trusting me to be a part of it

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 03/24/2022

Before tonight’s graduation we just wanted to post some pics of what students have been working on this week. Plenty of review of this month’s curriculum. Students demonstrating the techniques last night in front of class. We welcome brothers, Henry and Graham to our little samurai. That makes 60 active students!! We are thankful for all of our students who are making this dojo what it is today. We move forward now to 70, why not?? Graduation is tonight with students moving forward on their journey. Come be a part of this

Just a reminder, there are no regular classes tonight due to graduation. Feel free to come by and support students moving forward

Great start this week! Getting ready for graduation. Learning a double rear shoulder grab. Congratulations to Easton earning his kicks patch. Adults worked on a simple knife defense. We welcome Mr. Lane to our dojo. He will fit right in with our program. We are continually growing. Try it out. Great place to decompress and start something new. We have room for you. All you need is to walk through the door

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 03/19/2022

Finishing up our Saturday with some smaller classes after some larger ones earlier this week. Graduation this Thursday for some students so we continue working the curriculum but today worked in some water and wind striking drills and finished with Ura Gyaku (inward wrist twist). Look for yourself at the growth these students have achieved!! We congratulate Noah who earned his discipline patch today, Kaelyn earned her memory patch as well. Students earning those progression stripes all week. Our adults are working hard. Students helping other students…what a great dojo family here. Come down and see us. It’s never too late to start your journey

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 03/15/2022

Great start to the week as always. Classes are getting larger by the day. The intensity is always high on Monday. Great job to all last night! Come be a part of this dojo. You will be happy you did

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 03/12/2022

Despite closing today, what a great week! We worked a lot on strikes, kicks, and earth defenses against a rear collar grab and a lapel grab and punch. We had discussions on what we are good at and bad at, as well as what is a fight and what is self defense. We are growing rapidly still. We welcome Daryl to our Little Samurai program, Brodey and Adleigh to our youth. And adult classes are getting very full with Payton, Jackson, Jessica and Jason joining. Very powerful adults and doing so well this first week. Greyson earned this dojos first memory patch. We have so many respectful students that show their character daily here from opening doors to other members, congratulating others successes or showing someone how to tie a belt. I want to thank Mr. Dimotta, Mr. Kinsley and Mr. Cook for your assistance on the mat. You are making a positive impact on the lives of these students and should be proud. Look at these classes. You should be here. All it takes is to walk through our door

Sadly we will cancel classes today out of caution. We will make the post of our past week later. Enjoy the snow day and we will see you Monday

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 03/08/2022

Most aren’t fans of Mondays but here at NCD, we love them! For some reason the energy is just higher and last night, no exception! We thank Ashton for her paintings of patience and discipline which are both key focus points here. Those will be prominently displayed. We welcome Ms. Brittany to our adults. She will be a very powerful addition. Congratulations to more students earning stripes and progressing. Look at young adult Angelina take down a bigger and stronger opponent and with smiles while doing it. The young ladies in youth learned how to deal with someone pulling their hair from behind. All dealt with attacks from a rear collar grab. Many striking and kicking drills. Yes, the energy was there. Let’s keep it going! Come down and try out a free class and see if this is something for you! Great atmosphere here

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 03/05/2022

Well we close out this week with exciting news as we have hit 50 active students training at NCD!! What a milestone! Just six months in as well. We welcome to our little samurai program: Noah, Levi and Benjamin. To our youth: Grant, brother and sister Benjamin and Cara. To our adults: Mr. Davenport, Elias and Elisabeth! This week we did many striking and blocking drills combined with kicks. Our regular level one earth curriculum focus was on the uppercut punch as well as a rear collar grab. Many students earning their stripes to advance further in this art. Logan earned his stances patch today which was another focus point this past week. Come on down and try a class. We have room for many more on the mat. I would love to hit 60 by the end of March. Plenty of space in our adult program too

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 02/26/2022

This week ends on positivity. We introduced new ways of learning kamae to our little samurai program. We welcome Angelina to our adult program!! A very energetic graduation this past Thursday. We are learning new ways to defend against a cross grab. Discussions on discipline, focus, honesty and leadership with both examples of good and bad. We will be starting a new month and curriculum. Now is a great time to start your journey. Come by and check us out!

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 02/25/2022

Congratulations to all of our students moving forward last night!! Great energy as always from students and a big shout out to all the families, friends and other students that came to root them on. A family place we always say. Mindful action #9, “I am as enthusiastic about other’s fulfillment as I am about my own” was very much shown tonight. Enjoy your new rank, enjoy the success you earned, take what you have learned and now build upon it, make it better, refine and look for the principles that make it work! Gambatte!!

Classes tonight will unfortunately be canceled. I do not want to chance the possibility of freezing rain. My apologies for the very short notice. Classes to resume tomorrow as scheduled

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 02/19/2022

This week we focused on kicks and kamae (posture and stances) as well as our level one earth curriculum. We even had an opportunity today to learn some higher level entries to a straight punch attack. So much to learn. We could spend countless hours on one attack and it would be different each time. Congratulations to both Gabriel and Bently for earning their discipline patch. We welcome Jackson to our Little Samurai program! We welcome Jaccob and Emmett as well who joined our youth program earlier this week. We will hit a milestone of 40 active students this upcoming week. Let’s go for 50. No need to wait, get up, come down and try our classes. Family friendly environment. Egos are left at the door. Learn something that can last a lifetime. Make new and awesome friendships. This is the place

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 02/12/2022

We end this week on a great Saturday of energy. We have had some “off” days but the “on” days outnumber. In the end, that is what matters. Many congratulations to students. Ashton, Parker and Drake (seen in the video) for truly earning that blocks patch. Mr. Kinsley getting that red stripe and will be graduating this month. Greyson, a new student, has already learned his student creed and earned the discipline patch. Many others progressing with stripes toward next rank. Today we focused on kicks and more kicks. What great energy. Kaelyn showed us how to defend from a cross grab. Great job!! This place is filled with positivity as well as learning self discipline and respect for self and others. We have great students and families here at this dojo. Please come be a part of it. A great way to decompress, make new friends and learn something beneficial

Photos from North Country Dojo's post 02/08/2022

Monday night and what a great start to the week it was! So much energy in our youth classes. We welcome our newest student, Greyson, to our program. He will do great things no doubt. Congratulations to Kaelyn for earning her kicks patch. She is a go getter and look at those knee strikes. Another big congratulations to the brother and sister team, Eddie and Addison, for earning a very difficult blocks patch. They kept their hands up and survived. Awesome job to all!! There is no better time than now to try out a class. Adults of all ages and youth as young as 5 can all benefit from this structured, positive and family atmosphere
