Evolution Boulders

Today we got to climb with you all for the last time. It was bittersweet and beautiful and sad and all the things. We’ve seen so much growth from so many people, and it’s been an honor to get to be a part of your lives and to watch you grow as climbers.

We hope that we’ve shown you the climbing industry does have people in it that care about you. There can be safe spaces for women, for celebrating your culture and ethnicity, for feeling seen and represented and valued, to be free to openly show love to who you love. For too many climbers, representation and a feeling of safety and comfort aren’t the norm. We tried our hardest to make sure you all felt wanted here, because you were.

We hope we showed you what happy employees look like. What a setting team given creative freedom and the trust to explore their skills and individual styles looks like. We hope we showed you that you can ask for changes and your gym will listen to you. That your experience matters. Don’t be a stranger if you see us on the walls.

It is with the deepest sadness that we need to announce that on December 16th, Evolution Boulders will close its doors. We will be open with regular hours through December 15th.

We have loved seeing you all grow and climb in our gym and will cherish the friendships we’ve made. We are so proud of our setting team and our staff for being such amazing ambassadors for our gym and for the sport of bouldering. We are proud to have treated our employees and customers with respect, to have created a safe space for those who felt overlooked by the climbing community, and to be able to say we created a gym that we love to serve the community we love.

Thank you to all who supported us, believed in us, and climbed with us. We don’t know exactly what the future holds for our space, but we know it will be different come December 16th. We appreciate you all more than you know, and we are so thankful to have been able to share Evolution Boulders with you while we’ve had it.

Fruity Pebbles Q***r Climb Night will be November 21 at 7pm!

No previous bouldering experience or membership is needed, just come ready for great climbs and to meet our incredible community of LGBTQIA+ folks 🏳️‍🌈

Tiff (she/her) and Maverick (he/they) will be there to lead Fruity Pebble Climb Nights and make sure you get a warm welcome. If you’re not a member, grab a discounted ticket online (link in the “News/Events” story highlight). Check in at the front desk, grab a name tag and a friendship bracelet (they’re free, every Fruity Pebble gets one), and then get climbing.

+ Clearly marked gender neutral bathrooms are available

(While this event centers the LGBTQIA+ community, allies are welcome to join to climb with their loved ones and friends.)

Many of you have gotten to meet our amazing supervisor Linnea (and her very good boy Rupert the black lab), and we wanted to give everyone a chance to say goodbye before she heads off to her next adventure! She’s coming to hang out and climb Saturday night, November 16, from 5:30-8:00pm. Bring a potluck dish to share if you can!

Evolution Boulders was founded by a teacher and a nurse. After a decade each in their respective fields, they know how hard public servants work (one co-founder still works as a nurse!) We know they deserve the world, and a discount on day passes was a great place to start. Now we’ve extended our police/fire/medical first responder/military discount to memberships!

With valid ID, public servants can get $10 off their monthly recurring membership dues (this can be applied to family memberships, too).

We’ve made it easier for your family to try out bouldering!

Kids 15 and under can now get a day pass for just $15, and a monthly membership for $55/month.
