Starting TOMORROW! Yes, Virginia, you have a reprieve on the "Assault Weapon Ban" (AWB) beginning July 21, 2026. BUT this could end at any time. The statewide preliminary injunction blocking Virginia's assault weapon and magazine ban goes into effect tomorrow morning at 12:00 AM. This means that beginning on July 21, the state is officially barred from enforcing the ban across the entire Commonwealth while ongoing legal challenges proceed in court. We do believe it will last, but only because of the recent New Jersey AWB ruling, and the AWB will most likely be heard by SCOTUS in October 2026. Any rulings against "Assault Weapons" and the tide can turn the other way.
