Many pro-Second Amendment organizations, plaintiffs, fi****ms dealers, and two fi****ms industry companies are seeking a preliminary injunction to block enforcement of the ban before it takes effect. However, the damage is already occurring, as the administration intended. They are aware that the measure is unconstitutional and will not withstand judicial scrutiny, but by the time the slow court process concludes, significant harm will have been done to small businesses. Some gun shops have already closed their doors, while others have stopped placing orders and are liquidating inventory that will become unsellable under the new laws. This outcome appears to be exactly what the administration intended.

A ban on modern semiautomatic fi****ms faces a new legal hurdle in Virginia Wednesday after a fi****ms industry trade group asked for a preliminary injunction.

Democratic Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger signed the ban on so-called “assault weapons,” SB 749, into law on May 14, drawing immediate suits from pro-Second Amendment organizations, including the National Rifle Association (NRA), Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and the Fi****ms Policy Coalition (FPC). The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) said in a Wednesday press release that the plaintiffs, including a retired Green Beret, a clay shooter, a fi****ms dealer and two fi****ms industry companies, were seeking a hearing before June 19 on a preliminary injunction to block enforcement of the ban.
