Guest Artist Kieron Dwayne Sargeant

The Department of Theatre and Dance is excited to welcome Kieron in residency next month to choreograph a dance for our Spring Dance Concert, with performances April 27 - 29. Kieron Dwayne Sargeant is a Trinidadian-born interdisciplinary artist, choreographer, and dance researcher emerging out of the African-Caribbean tradition. Over the past 20 years, he has been involved in documenting, assessing, and analyzing dance traditions of the Caribbean and establishing a canon of dance teachings and workshops, informed by his research, to popularize the ancestral survival of movement traditions between the Circum-Caribbean and Western Africa.

Alumni Update: Victoria Finger!

I relocated to Lawrenceville, New Jersey in July! I'm a couple weeks into my masters program at Rider University. I'm in a cohort with 14 other movers in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling/ Dance Movement Therapy program! I've also joined the American Dance Therapy Sub-Committee with another Mankato alumni, Olivia Vepley! Thrilled to be apart of change for the students in DMT programs and see Olivia each month via zoom 😊 I'm absolutely loving my experience so far and the connections I've made at Rider. Although I miss my Minnesota friends and family so much!!

I work at a lovely restaurant in Princeton, NJ. I'm also a nanny once a week for an amazing 4 month old! All of that plus my two cats keep me very busy. As far as movement goes I miss teaching my students at Division Street Dance, but I continue to improv around my apartment as well as in class at Rider.

Wishing all the dancers the best semester! Keep moving!

Hi, I am Lauren Breen and I’m from North Oaks, Minnesota. I am an undecided major and I am minoring in dance. My favorite style of dance is either Tap or Jazz but I truly love all of them.

I’m looking forward to joining new activities and meeting new people this year and one fun fact about me is I used to Baton twirl and I twirled for seven years before dance.
