Our trip to cooperstowndreamspark.com is not just a baseball tournament, it is a week-long summer camp experience previously attended by dozens of current major leaguers. 14 alumni participated in the 2023 World Series alone.

Happy New Year, Mansfield! Less than 7 months away from the team’s trip to Cooperstown.

This week we continue our “Meet the Hornets!” profiles with Ted Schoonveld.

From the friendly confines of Wrigley Field…well, maybe just Otis Street Field 6, Ted is our resident Cubs fan and lover of all things baseball. Named after Red Sox legend Ted Williams and Cubs great Ryne Sandberg (middle name), “Teddy Ballgame” is steady, smooth, and ready to outmatch his opponent. Ted has worked hard the last few years to develop his game on the mound, and has made great strides as he’s grown into an accurate, dependable pitcher who is not phased by any matchup.

Fun fact about Ted, he’s visited about 30 national parks. An impressive feat for someone who hasn’t yet hit 12 years old.

Ted recently joined the GBG Hawks travel baseball program based out of the RBI Baseball Academy in Foxboro, along with 4 other Cooperstown teammates. The time, energy, and effort all the members of this Mansfield Cooperstown team are dedicating to the game of baseball is so impressive to see.

The '23 Mansfield Cooperstown Baseball Team is holding a Super Bowl Squares raffle to support the team’s trip to Dreams Park in Cooperstown, NY!

The cost to enter is $25 per square, and the total prize is 50% of the entries. There will be a $250 winner at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarter , and a $500 winner for the final score!

How it works: On the SuperBowl grid, numbers 0-9 are written along the side (Away Team) and the same along the top (Home Team). Names will be randomly assigned to squares, and grid numbers assigned once the grid is full. We will post the filled-out grid prior to the Super Bowl so you can see your position.

At the end of each quarter and at the end of the game, look for the last digit of each team's score and find the square that intersects on the grid. If your name is in that square, you win! For example: The score at halftime is 14-10, the square that is below the 4 and next to the 0 wins.

We will post the final completed grid on the team's page and email those who provide an email address before the game.

Meet the Hornets! Week 4.

This week it’s Pete Marr. No team gets over the hump without a hard-working, winning attitude. Pete brings a grit and toughness that is unmatched. A defensive asset in left field with a great arm, you’ll often find Pete holding a drive to the gap to only a single.

Pete’s dedication to the game spans all 12 months of the year, participating in winter skills training at RBI Academy and additional lessons above and beyond his efforts in the spring and summer seasons. Pete is also active in soccer, flag football, skiing, and maybe a round of Fortnite or two in his spare time.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our 50/50 raffle that was drawn last Sunday. The winner took home just over $2,500. Stay tuned for additional ways to support the team in the near future, including the ever popular Super Bowl squares.

Meet the Hornets! Week 3.

Meet Jake Federline, a "do-it-all" ballplayer. Need three innings on the mound? He’s got it. Blocking that pitch in the dirt to keep a runner at third? Consider it done. Two outs, slow roller up the middle? Side retired. If you spend any time around the Otis Street fields (and you should), you’d know we call him J-Fed. You’ll also find him at the rink and the turf as an active hockey and soccer player.

Meet the Hornets! Week 2.

This week we move from the hot corner of 3rd base to the middle infield. We introduce you to Ryan Miceli.

By age 3, Ryan left behind Disney Junior and started his day with the MLB Network. In addition to playing baseball and being an avid fan, Ryan enjoys playing travel soccer and basketball and also enjoys camping and hiking. Ryan just began his second year playing for the GBG Hawks travel baseball program based out of the RBI Academy in Foxboro. This year he will be joined by 3 other Mansfield Cooperstown team members working to hone their skills!
