We're very excited to announce the 2026 Youth Marksmanship Program at Mansfield Fish & Game! Open to anyone 10-17 years old (club members or not), the Youth Program will meet on Monday evenings from 6:00pm to sunset, starting 5/18/2026. Participants will learn firearm safety and receive instruction and coaching on rifle marksmanship.

Thanks to the generosity of our members, we are again able to run the program for only a $5/week fee The fee covers use of the program's .22 caliber rifles, ammunition, targets, eye & ear protection, and water. Bring your own snacks and dress for the weather.

Advance registration is not required, this is a drop-in program. If your young person participates regularly they'll be able to track their progress and work towards Marksman or even Distinguished Marksman qualification. We encourage you to try to make the first meeting for the overall orientation. For more information, please contact the program at [email protected]

🦃 YOUTH TURKEY SEASON REMINDER 🦃
The Massachusetts Environmental Police would like to remind families that the Youth Turkey Hunt is open to minors ages 12–17 and takes place Saturday, April 25th, 2026.

Before heading into the field, youth hunters must have:
• Basic Hunter Education completed before the hunt
• Turkey Seminar completed before the hunt (only required once)
• An adult mentor (18+) with a valid MA hunting license and turkey permit
• All required licenses, tags, and permits printed and in possession

Age‑specific requirements:
• Ages 15–17: Must have a Minor Hunting License, Turkey Permit, and Youth Turkey Hunt Eligibility
• Ages 12–14: Must have Youth Turkey Permit. If using a shotgun, the adult mentor must hold a valid fi****ms license

Fi****ms Reminder:
Hunters 15 and older using a shotgun must have a valid Massachusetts fi****ms license. Contact your local police department to apply.

Only one youth per mentor is allowed.
All hunting laws apply during Youth Turkey Day.

THROWBACK THURSDAY MEGABLAST #7 - INDOOR RANGE

It has been quite a journey from plans to build an indoor range in the old Quonset hut clubhouse, which was destroyed by heavy snow, to building the new clubhouse and finally the indoor range. Congratulations to everyone who played a part, through your ongoing membership support, participation in work parties, bond purchases, participation in the Finance Committee that looked for funding, and to the many directors and officers who moved things forward every year. Special shout-outs to Dan for driving the financing efforts and to Lou for shepherding the whole construction process.

Since opening, the range has recorded over 4950 hours of operation, hosted regular Precision Pistol and Armed Women of America events and, thanks substantially to the maintenance efforts our indoor range crew and the conscientious behavior of our members, remains in outstanding shape.

Members are encouraged to take advantage of this tremendous resource and enjoy the benefits of our now 5-year old indoor range!
