Birmingham Boys vs. Peaky Blinders — Fact vs. Fiction
In the TV series Peaky Blinders, Billy Kimber (played by Charlie Creed-Miles) is portrayed as a major rival to Tommy Shelby and the Peaky Blinders, with the Birmingham Boys (Brummagem Boys) controlling racecourses and challenging the Shelbys’ reach Sky HISTORY. However, the real-life history of these gangs is quite different.
Real-life rivalry
The Birmingham Boys, led by William “Billy” Kimber, were a powerful street gang active in the UK from the 1910s to the 1930s. Kimber controlled racecourses in the Midlands and later expanded into southern England from a base in Islington Wikipedia+1. They clashed with the Peaky Blinders over gambling and turf control, but the Peaky Blinders themselves were already in decline by the early 1920s Sky HISTORY.
