DunMac Golf for Vets

Another really nice day for golf. Got several photos of some of the guys out enjoying themselves. While we do enjoy the golf, some of the golfers (like John in the green shirt) also enjoy looking for lost balls. His ball finding record is somewhere over 100 golf balls found during one round. Also, you see some golfers looking for one of their own balls hit into the waste land, which isn't as much fun.

We had our end of month skills game with lunch and presentation of awards after the round. .The day was absolutely perfect for golf and the scores showed it. The 4 man scramble was won with a score of 63. Lunch was a choice of fried or broiled chicken along with coleslaw, potato salad, watermelon cubes and cookies and cake for desert.

A beutiful day for golf and I forgot to take photos again, although I did wake up long enough to take some snapshots of young turkeys we saw on the Victory Links course. Luckily, Ray (in the red cap) took some shots of golfers enjoying themselves on the course.

Wednesday was a great day for getting out on the golf course. Got some pics of a few players out enjoying the day. Also got a snapshot of the new parking ramp going up across the street from the course. It's part of the Blaine Entertainment District going in next to the National Sports Center.

Wednesday we held our end of month skills match. In addition to a four man scramble, we had contests for closest to the pin and longest putt on selected holes. After the round, we had a nice buffet lunch and the awarding of prizes.

This was the first time we've played on Wednesday in 3 weeks because of rain. They are playing qualifying rounds for the 3M Open at Victory Links, so we played at Hidden Haven. Not a bad thing because they take very good to us and the course is fun to play. The temperature was in the 90's and dew point was high so we needed to make suee we stayed hydrated. Unfortunately, I got caught up in the round and forgot to snap some photos out on the course, but I did get some of the guys prior to the start of the round.

On monday's, several of our members play golf at Hidden Haven Golf Club in Oak Heights (just north of Minneapolis). It's a fun course, with some interesting holes. The round starts out with a par 4 that requires a good approach shot over the reeds and water to a shallow, elevated green. It ends with another par 4 with an approach shot to a small green and not much room on either side if you miss it. If this sounds like fun, that's because it is.

It was a fantastic day for golf on Wednesday. Not too hot and little, if any, wind. Too bad it isn't like that every time we play. The course got pretty beat up with winter kill, but it's coming around, with grass now growing in many of the bare spots.

Wednesday was a fantastic day for golf. Not too hot and almost no wind. Golfers weren't the only ones enjoying the course that morning. This turkey was in the danger area (not on the green 😀) but nobody hit him. One of our guys did get a birdie on the hole though.

It was another cold start for our round on Wednesday. We had a half hour frost delay (hopefully our last this spring) so everybody had lots of time to visit and enjoy their coffee. While starting out chilly, it turned out to be a nice day for golf.
