On monday's, several of our members play golf at Hidden Haven Golf Club in Oak Heights (just north of Minneapolis). It's a fun course, with some interesting holes. The round starts out with a par 4 that requires a good approach shot over the reeds and water to a shallow, elevated green. It ends with another par 4 with an approach shot to a small green and not much room on either side if you miss it. If this sounds like fun, that's because it is.

It was a fantastic day for golf on Wednesday. Not too hot and little, if any, wind. Too bad it isn't like that every time we play. The course got pretty beat up with winter kill, but it's coming around, with grass now growing in many of the bare spots.

Wednesday was a fantastic day for golf. Not too hot and almost no wind. Golfers weren't the only ones enjoying the course that morning. This turkey was in the danger area (not on the green 😀) but nobody hit him. One of our guys did get a birdie on the hole though.

It was another cold start for our round on Wednesday. We had a half hour frost delay (hopefully our last this spring) so everybody had lots of time to visit and enjoy their coffee. While starting out chilly, it turned out to be a nice day for golf.

We're outside now. It's cold, but we're still enjoying our first skills contest of the new season. Following the round, we celebrated with a nice lunch, for which we say thank you, Janet. After lunch, we held the awards ceremony to honor the winners of the scramble, closest to the pin, and longest putt contests.

This may be our last round at Optimal Performance Golf for the year. We've really enjoyed playing at OPG and want to thank the owners and staff for their assistance in making sure we had a good time.
Next week we play at Hidden Haven on Monday and at Victory Links on Wednesday. In spite of enjoying our golf at OPG, we're all looking forward to playing outside.
A special thank you to the officers who give a lot of their time organizing and coordinating our golf. Also, a thank you to those vets who bring in treats for the others to snack on while golfing.

We held our annual Meet and Greet on March 25 this year. In addition to our normal skills challenge, we enjoyed a nice buffet and handed out several gifts to our lucky winners. Gifts included gift certificates donated by Clive's Roadhouse in Blaine and Malone's Bar and Grill in Maple Grove.
Our big winner this year was Jim Beall, who won a Sun Mountain C-130 Golf Bag donated by Sun Mountain. You can tell Jim was excided about winning the golf bag just by looking at his face in the photos.
Guests included ardent supporters of Golf for Vets. Attending were Benny Menton PGA Hope program, Nick Vogt PGA Tour Superstore, Ben Spartz Hidden Haven Golf Club, and a special thanks to Zach Dennis Sun Mountain Sports for the golf bag.
