Founded in 1971 by director Paula K. Shiff, Marblehead School of Ballet has earned a wide reputation for the excellence of its training and integrity of purpose. Classical ballet forms the core of teaching with particular emphasis on correct alignment and development of strength and agility. The sheer pleasure of dance and music is always central to the classroom experience. The basic graded program for children includes classes in ballet technique with advanced work in repertoire and pointe. The school also offers a modern dance department. Classes for young children in creative movement and Mindful Kids are also provided. Older students attend classes in improvisation and technique and Ballroom and Partner Dances are available for teenagers. A full range of adult classes is offered in Ballet, Ballroom and Partner Dances, Pilates, Stretch and Strength, and Beginner Tai Chi and Qi Gong. North Shore Civic Ballet
The Marblehead School of Ballet is home to the nonprofit dance company, the North Shore Civic Ballet Company (NSCB). The NSCB gives concert performances and a variety of educational programs for schools; all are suitable for different age groups and levels of development. Public Transit and Parking

Welcome to Our 55th Season! This year is especially meaningful, with the Marblehead School of Ballet (MSB) celebrating 55 years of dance, education, creativity, and community.

🕺💃As we begin this milestone season, I am filled with gratitude for the dedicated faculty and staff of the Marblehead School of Ballet, the North Shore Civic Ballet’s Board of Trustees, our generous donors and supporters, and the many families, students, alumni, and friends who have been part of our journey through the years. Because of all of you, MSB continues to grow, inspire, and provide a place where people of all ages can experience the joy of dance.

Our 55th season will be filled with wonderful opportunities, special programs, performances, and celebrations as we honor our past, celebrate the present, and look forward to an exciting future. A highlight of this milestone year will be welcoming back former students, dancers, faculty, and friends for our 55th Anniversary Reunion on June 26 and 27!🥂

🩰 Marblehead School of Ballet and BALAM Dance Theatre are getting ready for Hispanic Heritage Month with the new "2026 Fall Dance Adventure: Malagueña!”

No previous dance experience is needed!
🌟 Workshop Highlights
Dance Style: Malagueña, a Spanish iconic melody by Cuban-Spanish composer Ernesto Lecuona, for its latest dance adventure workshop,
Dancers will learn stylish, basic Spanish dance movements and use mantones (Spanish fringed shawls) in a mysterious and spirited choreography created specifically for them.

💫What a wonderful time everyone had on our annual trip to Jacob's Pillow! This excursion is always a highlight of the summer, with this year no exception. We enjoyed a beautiful day together and an incredible performance by the San Francisco Ballet .
