Should we participate regularly in both yoga AND strength training?
The majority of people either primarily strength train or consistently practice yoga. Did you know it is extremely important to do both?! Yet we rarely see crossfitters that regularly do yoga or yogis that regularly lift heavy weights.
Let’s talk about why that should change…
Participating in both strength training AND yoga has many benefits including:
⭐️Expands Range of Motion
Lifting heavy weights can shorten muscles overtime leading to stiffness. Yoga counteracts this by stretching and mobilizing tissue helping you hit deeper and safer positions in exercises like squats!
⭐️Accelerates Recovery
Yoga promotes blood circulation which helps flush out lactic acid and ease soreness in the days following a tough lifting session.
⭐️Reduces Risk of Injury
Yoga improves body awareness, balance and strengthens stabilizing muscles, providing a strong foundation to protect joints under heavy loads.
⭐️Optimizes Your Nervous System
Strength training spikes the sympathetic nervous system, “fight or flight”, while yoga activates your parasympathetic nervous system “rest and digest”.
Both are useful, but it’s important that your body can transition smoothly between stress and relaxation.
We also tend to be in a state of fight or flight more than we should so it is imperative that we prioritize a mindful yoga practice into our weekly routine.

To come to a yoga class at PeakZen, you do NOT have to…

❌ Be able to meditate or clear your mind
❌ Have a cute yoga outfit or a yoga mat
Yoga is about finding connection between your body and your mind. Your breath and your movements. Yourself and the world around you.
It is about becoming your true Self (which is already inside of you, btw)
Everything you need is already inside of you.
Everything you need to come to a yoga class is already inside of you!!
So dress in comfy clothes, grab a water bottle, and we will take care of the rest!! 💕

I am still in awe and so honored that we were voted East Cobb‘s Best Yoga Studio for the second time in our three years in business.
What makes up a Yoga Studio?
The building, the equipment, the decor, the music. But that’s not what won us this title.
What truly makes a Yoga Studio is the PEOPLE.
The PeakZen Guides 💕 PeakZen would be nothing without your time, energy, love and care.
The PeakZen Students 💕 You are truly the heart and soul of this place. When you come attend class, you think you are showing up for yourself, but really you are showing up for others. You inspire other students. You inspire your families. You inspire the community.
